Bottoms up!

The theft, involving nearly $1,200 worth of liquor, happened Thursday evening on a US Airways jet.

Wow! $1,200 worth!

That's a lot if it's based on the $0.35/bottle the company pays. Not so much if they're using the overinflated $6/bottle that they charge their customers.

USAIRWAYS planes are NOT cleaned by US employees. Work was contracted out. These are NOT airline employees.

Didn't realize Jetstream crews were airline employees.....Observer needs to get the facts straight..

I sent a correction to the charlotte observer. I suggest everybody does the same

Well now, if the passenger can claim the Ipad that they left in the seatback pocket and was stolen by the airline employees is worth $2000, why can't we claim the liquor was worth $6.00? Turn about is fair play.

(You know, that Ipad that is so important that if they have to turn off their Words with Friends game during takeoff, Western civilization as we know it will collapse?)

Since USAirways and the Courts eliminated Utility(cleaners), USAir has contracted those position to the lowest bidder. I would be more concerned about a "Green Card" or "ankle braclet" vs a few bottles of liquor. I have always wondered why some USAir employees must go through a 10yr background check and others, such as the majority of the current cleaners at the large hubs are lucky to have a command of the English language. Who is held responsible for their background checks....I'm thinking many of them have not been in this country 1 yr let alone 10!!!! At one time one of the contract companies had hired persons to clean aircraft wearting ankle bracelets!!!!

Not to mention, depending on if these were "taken" from express of ML jets, Uhmm...how do they know it was missing. My understanding is there really is little to no inventory control as to what goes on and off the airplanes, especially on the express side. HAHAHA inventory control. Ya right....

My guess would be that the inventory was at zero when they discovered the problem and assumed that the plane was stocked at 100%. This would be the extent of their accurate accounting practices.

Not to sound anti immigrant (there is plenty of that going around these days) or to imply that a recent immigrant is more of a potential security risk, but I've always wondered how background checks are done for these folks. Interpol? Private investigators in the country of origin? As for the cleaner wearing an ankle monitor, at least his whereabouts for the last five years or so are known! 🙄

That has been my question all along? They have been problems with 20+yr people transferring locations and hearing about "badge" issues...really!!!People working for the company over 20years and having badge probelms and yet someone right off the boat no problem!!!
