Saw this piece on a US-AA merger and thought the poll results were interesting. I've been focused on internal opposition to a merger among US employees, but this show that a majority of consumers would rather see an option other than a US-AA merger.

And yes, I know that "self selecting" polls are not scientific.

Sure they would, they want to continue paying low fares instead of a fair market costs. Less competition will bring fares up, so they are and will be against anything that will cost more. I'm sure the same gangs were opposed to other mergers too, but we can all see how much their crying amounted to.

i don't know why you would want to see doug parker fired ... he's one of the best CEO's in the airline industry today .... we are LUCKY to have him ...

let's go AA merger!!! The last merger improved the lives of myself and my co-workers radically , i think another merger can only make things even better !!! lets do this now!!!

Freedom, if the merger happens I'm going to be laughing so hard at YOUR prediciment when PHX gets shut down because it makes no sense to have PHX and LAX hubs.

at last check, a merger with aa and us was in the lead. once again you are leading from behind. your fire doug parker is a laughing stock and you are living in the past as always. no one likes your posts and your site. its an embarassment. go to work somewhere.

I'm an AA mech, and the feelings we have are more, we have not too much confidence in our current executives. But when we look at USair, there seems to be more of the same delay contract talks when the employees are do a raise. Plus I don't see how having AA pilots (who are not known for being easy to get along with) meshing with the pilots of USair who are having big fight between the west and east pilots, and after 6 years ( I believe ) of being "merged" USair and AW are still operating separately. All I see are years of pilot/FA court battles and no good synergies, unless the union heads have everything ironed out pre merger.

What scares me the most is the pilots wanted Cardy over Crandall, then wanted Arpey over Cardy, now they want Parker over Horton, all the while talking about the good old Crandall days. Just like the TWA pilots wanted Icahn, look what happened to the TWA employees in the end.

Parker is no white knight, he is a bottomline spread sheet worshipper just like the cadre currently overseeing the demise of AA.Make no mistake, if Parker gets to "Pull the levers" at AA people here will be screaming for "Regime Change" in less than six months.

^^^ I agree

Good post and couldn't agree more. The minute Parker takes control, it will be the usual foot stomping and usual cry for "the good ole Crandall days." Guess it's just par for the course.

I don't think the TWA pilots ever wanted Icahn. Nobody ever wants someone like Icahn who only knows how to wield a scalpel in order to enrich himself. If I recall correctly, TWA was in dire straits at the time, needed cash, and only Icahn would come forward with the infusion to keep the company alive (to be bled to death at a later date.) Icahn saw value for his pocket at TWA, and the employees had no choice.

Amen!

Your problem is that you seldom remember correctly, often revising instead of revisiting history...

Icahn was the "white knight" that kept Lorenzo from acquiring TWA. That the "savior" turned out to be the "raider" just shows how easily employees, and pilots in particular, are distracted and led astray by shiny beads - a pattern the east still follows...
