AWA + USAir = Total Mistake

, I think that some of the attitudes and surliness found on this board permeate themselves into the airports and airplanes. I guess most people are content to be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.

either this or the attitudes were already in place......I have encountered on both sides awesome co workers....I am highly embarrassed anymore to say what city I am from as I got a fon call while on vaca from a co worker that has since transferred on her horrifying experience through my city.....she did not even have to tell me who it was (I knew) because myself and others see it every single day. We sit back and wonder when will someone see what is going on? I can only imagine if every single station had 3-4 bad apples as we do...can you imagine???? We now have a basket of rotten fruit....on the other hand I was and still am, in total awe of a station very far north that is not even operated by us.....operated by AA whom handles every single flight. Wow, could we take lessons from this city....and nope, they did not give me anything special...in fact, I sat in their lovely airport for almost 3 days....but they treated me like a person. They were not professional or nice to me because I might be giving out some A&B coupons.....they were just people people.

The merger isn't a mistake. Many DECISIONS made by management have been mistakes. I still believe in this merger. It just needs strong leadership. I don't care which coastline they're from. Just do your freakin job!!

I do think this merger was a BIG mistake only in the sense of two different philosophies. We are so different. We were so used to playing in the big boys league, we were well on our way to becoming a major global competitor. We competed with the likes of United, Delta, American and Continental. America West competed with mainly Southwest. I mean NO disrespect at all, really. We were just at a different level. Unfortunately, the boys in Tempe, for whatever reason, cannot think on that scale. I guess it really does come from battling with Southwest and they cannot get out of that mindset. Until they do, we are going nowhere fast.

They tried to globalize their regional mentality. It is a disaster. Has there been ONE thing that this management team has done that hasn't been screwed up, recalled, apologized for, or axed?

Prop,

I fully agree-this is what I have been saying all along. HP competed well with Southwest, and at one time, US competed well with the other majors. The HP way will not work in the east. That was a given from day one.

Kao,

There are MANY good people who go above and beyond all the time. These folks are the main reason many of us stayed around as long as we did. In many cases they are the ONLY reason.

I hope that cooler heads prevail and that someone shows the leadership skills to get the place back on track. Maybe it can't be done.
I am betting it can, but perhaps with leadership who can and will do it.

My best to you all....

I think that all of this anger comes simply from unmidigated frustration. All of us are powerless. The answers are right in front of them: The employees of this company, East and West. The bottom line is, at least from our end of the world (East) that this is so easily fixed. As a gate agent in PHL, I have interacted with many HP crew, and for the most part, they are FANTASTIC and feel exactly the way we on the East do. As Robert Crandall once said, the one airline that has the most untapped potential is USAir, they just needs the proper direction. Unfortunately, the last 4 CEO's have just used this carrier for personal financial growth and it appears that the present is no different. Personally, I would much rather have the reputation as being competent and ethical, something that hasn't been around since Mr. Edwin Colodny.

The bottom line is we both needed each other, who really gives a hoot if East might have gone under 60 days before the west or the other way around. Ask yourselves this, Does it really matter now???

Todays reality is, Shares cant handle our ops. What is Tempe going to do about it? Get the full version that CO uses. go back to Sabre? Again, who gives a hoot, DO SOMETHING!

Art is correct give the employees the tools to right the ship East and West. Tempe DO SOMETHING!

Integration? Its all done except the pilots. The only way to fix that without getting into 30 other threads is to read the first part of this post again. IMO the answer is not the Nic award, nor is it DOH. This one is going to be tough

Most importantly we need some "leadership" from our "management" everyone here should know the difference between those two words. I have serious doubts about Tempe's understanding of that, but hey I would love to be proven wrong.

The bickering back and forth and the rediculous name calling has got to stop on both ends! We have what we have, now move foward for cripes sake.

Tempe, put down the Wall street journal, forget the stock price and run a freaking airline!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tempe states FFocus is militant?

Art, Piney and the rest of you that have large corporations backing you please take heed.
We the employee group at Us both east and west need for you to contact every media contact you might know and put out to the public that Sabre system must be re-installed immediately ! Not shares, not native shares, it must go back to Sabre.

Your intentions and reports were wonderful, you just funnelled them to the wrong source, Sand. You must now mobilize with CONCRETE.

We need your help and we need it yesterday!

Really, why don't you watch the latest CLT Crew news video on theHub when our VP talks about the merger and makes the following comment: "US Airways knows the inevitability of what would have happened if the merger did not happen." It's about time someone from our management stopped coddling the east and started to show leadership. Also, it seems like management is always in the denial & pacification mode when they should step-up and show some leadership by putting action behind their words.

Well, sir. That is certainly an open ended question your VP asks of a bunch of authoritarian followers. I mean, my answer would have been, "flourished?", especially in an increasingly better economy, but, then, perhaps you expected a different answer. With the cheapest labor costs in the industry, who could go wrong?

Why don't you ask yourself why your leadership only gives televised road shows before sycophants. Afraid to tackle real questions from those who are not into brown nosing?

That's just it. They clearly have no intention of running a operationally sound airline. Read into it what you may, but I for one insist on the Nicolau award to be thrown out. As in a future merger-it is a serious nightmare. Move that mountain aside, and progress awaits. Play king of the hill on the mountain, no deal.
Seems not only management needs to lead, but ALPA does too.
