AWA + USAir = Total Mistake

Really, why don't you watch the latest CLT Crew news video on theHub when our VP talks about the merger and makes the following comment: "US Airways knows the inevitability of what would have happened if the merger did not happen." It's about time someone from our management stopped coddling the east and started to show leadership. Also, it seems like management is always in the denial & pacification mode when they should step-up and show some leadership by putting action behind their words.
I wouldn't WASTE My TIME watching a televised version of "Sesame Street" from the Ministry of Propaganda. These people talk out of both sides of their mouths depending on who their captive audience is. Pretty much ALL TALK, No Action!

You mean the Church of "Christ?"

Now they take a similar opportunity to regain their strength as part of a successful airline with mangement that has arguably dealt WN their biggest black eye in their history,

Please elaborate! Are we talking loosing California, Upstate NY, Florida, BWI, Intro into "fortress hub"? Not quite sure what you mean

I don't know when you started working for A&W but it seems your history of them is pretty flawed.

The best I could say (from your point of view) is that both SW and A&W beat each other to a pulp, in a sense SW retreated to DAL and, were it not for Franke picking up a "tear down" for a song, A&W would not be here. My friends at SWA characterize it quite a bit differently. SWA has always seemed to near dominate PHX, in-spite of A&Ws best efforts.

As I recall, A&W's losing management had few survivors under Franke. Singing their praises is cute but reflects a complete misunderstanding of what happened.

To get this thread back on track, what did the the union folks tell DP & Co. to make them believe the E/W groups could work nicely together before the merger? Did the unions give any input pre-merger? Did Dave & Co ask for input? Somewhere there seems to have been a misunderstanding of epic proportion re: integration. Was it simply ignored?

I just want to know how something could get so eff'ed beyond belief so fast.

And that two-bit reservation system meant for a small regional carrier--that was the bomb!

in the words of UWCactus....YOU MUST BELIEVE ME...HP was an international carrier before the merger...they flew to Canada and Mexico.

Flying to Canada and Mexico makes them international in only one sense of the word. They were a regional airline who happened to fly to Canada and Mexico. They competed with WN, and that was their target competitor.

They are now trying to run a major international airline. That is a big difference from running a regional with international flying.

The reservations system is woefully inadequate for the task at hand. They have already squandered any potential savings with fixes and bandaids. Unfortunately you need to deal with the fact that SABRE just isn't coming back--they'd have to admit they were wrong, which will never happen.

That said, perhaps they could give you native SHARES and dump QIK. CO uses SHARES and they manage ok with it.

Back when the stations were going to SHARES training a large number of agents in all of the class told the instructors that SHARES was not capable of handling USAirways east.
We all came back to the stations and told management SHARES was not capable of handling USAirway east. THEY NO LISTEN

Does the West have any language-qualified crews for all this international service? Mexican-Spanish? Cactus Pidgin? Anything?

Don't forget about the time they bought a 747 and transported one passenger from PHX to Nagoya!
