The owner of British Airways is launching a new long-haul budget airline based in Barcelona.
IAG said the new airline, Level, would initially fly to Los Angeles, Oakland, Buenos Aires and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic from June.
The airline will use Iberia crew and two new Airbus A330 planes.

Any word on how this new carrier is doing? Probably way to soon to tell.

Level begins operating this summer.

An airline within an airline did not work in the USA.
In Europe, Lufthansa set up "Eurowings" to operate some long haul routes (in addition to short haul EU flights) and last summer there were some very unhappy customers on some long-haul flights. AF/KL operates Transavia but I'm not sure how things are working there.
