CO filed to issue $1B in securities earlier this week, obviously an attempt to fortify the balance sheet.

DL filed a nearly identical registration statement shortly after its out of court restructuring a year ago. It's pretty hard to sell securities to anyone when you are losing buckets of money which is the position Delta has been in for four years and CO expects to be in for the next year.

CO is clearly vulnerable and they know it. The faster DL and NW move to cut costs and shore up their finances, the more vulnerable CO is.

The three way partnership may take on a whole new form in the near future - right in front of the bankruptcy court of Southern New York.

Assuming you've been around a while, you've seen(on numerous times) AA "fall into a bucket of ####, and come out smelling like a rose"

From Crandall "trying to bribe Howard Putnam/Braniff"(slap on the wrist by the Feds), to "bagging union elections/contract votes", to (SADLY) dropping an A-300 into a Queens neighborhood, on the heels of 2 planes/9-11) and still staying out of BK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I predict that AA WILL NEVER go into BK !!

On another issue, is there a maximum amount of times a business may file for Ch 11? If CAL and UAL merged, which one would count? Would that make a difference in which name they would choose to operate under?
