On the company's blog, blogsouthwest.com, negative comments have outnumbered positive remarks by more than five to one. "Not since Coke tried to change its formula years ago has a major corporation made such a marketing blunder," screeched one writer. "Herb, an SOS is needed," wrote another, addressing Southwest co-founder and Chairman Herbert Kelleher, who plans to retire next year. "We need you back."

This just proves there are NO business travelers on SWA. Aside form the plane load of Dale Griffith's that consider themselves "business" travelers. Gotta sell all those shower curtain rings to someone.

I think in some markets it may work. As I pointed out WN recently added nonstop service from PHL to STL. Now if you are a Dividend Miles member or MP member you might fly US and earn UA or US miles but for US ff they are loosing loyalty they might be tempted to fly WN. Keep in mind a lot of business travel is on short notice and now they are aware that they will get a better seat on WN. So they have a choice of flying a RJ on US or a 737 on WN. So upgrades are taken out of the equation and people are preferential to larger jets rather than RJ's and of course.

I am sure there are other city pairs where WN offers Nonstops that previously a Business passenger might have taken a connecting flight and earned miles choosing loyalty to their mileage prgram and getting the benefit of their mileage program knowing they get the perks but WN allowing last minute higher-Business type fare paying passengers to get the ability to board first might cause some people to choose WN when WN is more convenient wheen in the past they would have overlooked WN even though they were more convenient.... At least that is what I have seen in the past being a travel agent.

No one takes you seriously.

That's Dell Griffith I believe to whom you are referring, FWIW.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I've non-rev'ed on a lot of flights and there has always been a decent mix of leisure and business... although I've been on a few FLL/MCO & FLL/TPA flights and I cound not count any kids on board.

Prior to the blue assimilation, I remember sitting in the "crew lounge" in the back and had a few people join me, they were all going to Orlando for a meeting then flying right back.

Btw, I kinda like the new boarding system.

Southwest Moves About The Country But The Terminal? Forget It

Very low expectations, just cheap, reliable service. But they have a new boarding system which is supposed to be an improvement over the one that's worked fine for decades.

Southwest does not assign seats. Instead, when you check in you get a boarding pass stamped A, B, or C. The A's board first, then the B's, then the C's. And each letter has its own line to stand in.

Now, though, the lettered lines are gone, replaced by numerical signs spaced every five feet along the boarding area. When you check in, you still get a letter, but also a number. So if you have A-26, you're supposed to line up below a numerical marker saying 26-30 when they call for the "A's."

Can I tell you how confused people are? It's worse than going metric overnight. The customer service rep has to spend ten minutes explaining where people need to stand, and people are still puzzled. It doesn't seem to speed boarding either.

I suspect we'll be hearing the ten-minute explanation for the next ten years and people STILL won't get it (do you know there are people who still show up at the airport and don't know they have to have liquids in small containers in a plastic bag?)

I sure hope someone didn't earn their Six Sigma Black Belt on this one.

The airline's slogan has been "You are free to move about the country." Moving about the terminal is another matter.
