Boeing decision to open 787 line in South Carolina challenged by federal labor agency
By Perry Flint | April 22, 2011

Boeing's troubled 787 program received a setback Wednesday when the federal National Labor Relations Board issued a complaint against the company for "unlawfully transferring work to a non-union facility."

Who needs to go see Atlas Shrugged when you can just witness in real life with the current administration?

Shut Boeing down and put 'em out of business. I'm sure that ought to make the unions and Barrack happy !

Stickin' it to the man, Baby !

What the hell does the POTUS have to do with Boeing?

Apparently everything if you're a Robot Republican.

Actually I think Dapoes has a valid argument, at least on the surface. I know a little more about how the NLRB work than I want too and it, like most things the Government does is not always clear. The NLRB ruling essentially upholds the so-called “runaway shop” doctrine, prohibits a company from moving its operations under such circumstances.

If Boeing and the IAM cannot arrive at a settlement, the next step will be a hearing before an NLRB administrative law judge set for June 14. Either party may appeal that decision to the full board and may also sue in federal court to overturn it.

Now the reason for the swipe at Obama stems from the fact that the Obama Administration has through appointments stacked the NLRB deck in favor of Labor.

Regardless of which side you're on this shows what happens when government meddles in private enterprise causing work/Jobs to go overseas.

Way too early to make that assumption. If Boeing wanted to go overseas (which they already have) they would have done it if were to their advantage. They need to follow due process.

I have not studied this case, so I will not comment on it's merits.

Presidential elections have consequences. One of those is the ability of your President to appoint people with ideals in line with the majority who elected him.

You're right! To the victor goes the spoils is alive and well and living at 1600 Penna Ave. Which in our current set up works both ways as when I lived in PA, the UAW has exactly the same claim against Mack Trucks who moved the main assembly plant to guess where? South Carolina! UAW lost because the NLRB was far less Labor Friendly.

The above is why I want the Government OUT of the Labor business. Officially This is the position of the Libertarian Party.

2.7 Labor Markets
We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment. We oppose government-fostered forced retirement. We support the right of free persons to associate or not associate in labor unions, and an employer should have the right to recognize or refuse to recognize a union. We oppose government interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or imposing an obligation to bargain.

20 years ago, this might have made sense. Today, no. Better to let 'new' jobs go to the US or they 'will' be outsourced.
At least the US will have a better class of hobo's.

What part of Barrack being anti-business and pro-union have you people not figured out yet !

It couldn't be a better move by the Marxist administration. The NLRB tossed a Kobe tenderloin to the GOP

Thus, almost to the day that South Carolina commemorated the 150th anniversary of the first shot of the Civil War, the federal government lobbed a grenade into the Palmetto State, challenging a private industry’s right to conduct business there.

Republican candidates will have no trouble picking the right side of this argument, and Democrats will be hard-pressed to choose such an anti-business posture. Any politician would be mistaken to ignore the stakes. By any other name, this is civil war.

If he is so anti-business, explain the TARP funding to Banks and the Automotive Industry.

Yeah that worked out well, payout to his Goldman and Union pals to the loss of billions to the tax payer.

Behind the Obama Labor Board’s Bashing of Boeing
is a Case Full of Irony and Union Failure

Source

Even before the decision was made by Boeing to locate the second assembly line in South Carolina, Boeing’s union (the International Association of Machinists) had a problem in South Carolina. Namely, workers at the facility had voted the Machinists’ union out shortly after Boeing bought the facility in 2009 from Vought Aircraft because of workers believed the union poorly represented them.
