Boeing To Sell 30 Jets To Jal

Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) said Friday it would buy 30 737 small passenger jets from Boeing Co., with an option to buy an additional 10.

JAL's latest order put Chicago-based Boeing (Research) ahead of European rival Airbus in a neck-and-neck battle to gain dominance of the commercial airliner market.

The list price for the 30 Boeing jets was about ¥200 billion ($1.92 billion) and it planned to sign the contract this spring.

The list price is generally higher than the price airline carriers actually pay as they get discounts for buying multiple planes.

JAL has also announced that it will buy 30 Boeing 787 with option of purchasing 20 more.
