What's new

buyouts?

The topic is buyout, not blockholders and reserves. Why does no one stick to the topic? Whether it is a/c purchases or the weather, it always goes back to blockholders versus reserves. Stick to the topic please to make the reading easier and more informative.

It's relevant to the topic, because what we are really talking about is US's staffing model. Why we are understaffed in some respects but have people sitting around making no money. It's a broken system.

It has to do with the BIG PICTURE!! Mouth... What EMB said has to do with everything and if you don't like what is being said then go read the Alaska board. Are you a flight attendant on the East? Furloughed or active? Reserve or Lineholder? Or are you the nasty extra that we had the other day who had NO idea that there was a transition agreement, what a transition agreement was, that there was an SEP offered, or that the West F/A's are now allowed to participate in Profit Sharing? As an aside this particular F/A that I speak of had to be the nastiest, meanest co-worker that I have EVER encountered and I begged her to take the SEP. Turns out she was from you know where!!!

Run to Target, study, watch Desperate Housewives. I'm available if you have any more distorted facts that need correcting. You just let me know.

Target? On $21/hr?

I know, you love the job....

Is it a distorted fact that you accepted a job at MDA, for lesser pay, thus cementing a downward industry spiral that you are now so involved with trying to turn around (for your peers of course, you don't need the money....)? Spin it however you would like....

I know I know, off topic.

Aw, you think I rely on USAir for income. How cute.

No wonder no one voted for you... a reserve looking for reserve votes that talks smack about MidAtlantic, a junior issue, on the internet. Good idea!

See, that's where you're wrong. I have no problem with MDA or the fine people that worked there. I just see such a similarity between you bashing the HP FA's for working for less, at a junk airline, etc, and you taking a job doing the same job for less overnight. It's two faced and strange.

Reread the post: I know you are not here for the money, you say it constantly. Who is talking smack?

Oh my goodness where's the popcorn. If they lowered that SEP to 10 years I'd disappear quicker than Casper the friendly ghost.

Well the BIG difference between the MDA issue and the new-hire issue at the former HP is that the people who chose MDA were already employed by the company and decided that is where they wanted to stay (in part because they were furloughed later on and there was really no other decent paying airlines that were hiring), not really any different than the active employees voting 3 times for lower wages and having every other airline watch and follow suit because they would think their employees were scared enough to do the same thing. These new-hires at HP for the most part are off the street "civilians" without prior airline experience that think there is glamour to be had and either were rejected by the big boys or were clueless as to what $16.00/hr really meant. Soon after they either wise up and join in the fight or move along to another airline or whatever $9.00/hr job will take them.

BTW Itestwell what's your deal? If you're really that mean to the other RSV's I'm curious to know if you were trying for a position within the union and so what if EMB is still at $21/hr it's not her fault, after all she didn't vote for it. Remember??

Does anyone think they will get all 314? and maybe recall everybody
IMO it is highly UNLIKELY they will get the targeted 314. There are MANY that WANT to leave but CAN'T AFFORD TO with the out of pocket expense of medical. There are many employees here and at the other airlines that face this same dilemma.......they want to leave but then what? The PIT closure really throws the issue front and center because many of these SENIOR people have never commuted, really don't want to and the Company isn't helping with a reduced schedule and limited seats. I have had several conversations with some of the PIT folks and told them, "It's time to CASH OUT.....it will not get any better, commuting sucks, and the job isn't what it used to be". If the Company wanted to reduce their headcount (without bringing out the Guillotine- their preferred way of handling matters of attrition) they should have at least offered the Buyout to ANYONE that wanted it, with no length of service requirement.
