Can SomeOne Please Explain?

Just found out today that United is outsourcing its inside operation in ROC to American Eagle. United already outsourced its CO operation inside and outside to American Eagle several months ago in ROC. American Eagle employees who lost their mainline staus years ago, will now have to work AA and UA flights. In ROC, Usairways is mainline for now inside, until the merger when we will have to wait see if we downgrade to Eagle, or stay mainline. Currently, Delta works the outside for US in ROC. If this whole thing sounds like a Nightmare on Elm Street, then stay tuned. Maybe after the merger (thats supposed to be just wonderful for everyone), so they are telling us, the Usairways mainline employees with get to work both UA and AA flights with Eagle Pay Scales. What ever happened to the idea that United employees, work United flights, AA employees work AA flights, and UsAirways employees, work US flights?????????? Also found out today that an AA contracted out Ramp agent in Roc was pinned between a belt loader and the aircraft bin last week, and is currently in a coma, He has a ruptured spleen, lost a kidney , fractures ribs and broken vertibrae. Say a prayer that he recovers.

Go over to the United board, it is being discussed there, has nothing to do with US.

I disagree 700, it does pertain as asked to US. If we merge with AA and do not vote in a union, then this could very well happen in ROC and many other cities. Currently there are SOME protections in the US CWA contract that would prevent this in some cities depending on the flight schedule. With the merger of AA there are some cities that are currently Eagle that would be mainline under the current contract.

US/AA, DL and UA will continue to whipsaw the various ground handling companies in an effort to avoid having to pay a livable wage to their own employees.

And, therein lies the problem Evidently getting AA ticket/gate agents to vote for a union is harder than getting DL flight attendants to vote for a union. That may be because they see how little benefit the average AA flight attendant gets from the union--every time there is a negotiation, we end up giving up much more than we get. The union is too busy protecting the jobs of f/as who should be fired to do much else.

Hopefully UA/IAM agents can raise the bar in their long disappointing negotiations. UA/IAM agents contract will have a big influence on the rest of the industry scene they lead the industry with a tentative agreement. It is hard to go to the negotiating table when one of your biggest competitor allows all city’s to be outsourced

How many DL and AA mainline flights get there flight attendances outsourced on there own aircraft
How may DL and AA mainline aircraft get groundwork by outsourced workers
Could the UNIONs have something to do with this
