I'm interested in knowing how everyone feels about the Canadian aviation magazines that are available....

Why is it if you look at the results it will not let you vote??

Well, since ASL is not even in the running, :hide: , I guess I'll go with my 2nd choice. IMHO, the magazine that best addresses the needs of real pilots is COPA Flight. Yes I know you may say it's G.A., but all in all, I like the content. All other magazines seem yo have the same look and feel. Vertical is OK and my buddy CTD likes it too, but it quite specialized, so not enough for ALL pilots. WINGs is OK but geared to businesses and government, not really pilots.

The magazine "Aviation Quebec", which also carries a section called "La Brousse". is also very high on my must read list, #2 to COPA Flight.

Mike, I hope you won't be offended by my wondering if your poll isn't a little self-serving, not that there's any crime in that, just that it might look a little unseemly in this (supposedly) fair and (dare I suggest) impartial forum. B)

Downwash,

Actually my interest is in the fixed wing magazines in Canada. I wouldn't expect Vertical to fair as highly as it is on this site considering it is also big amongst the fixed wing community which has no idea what Vertical is. So, I guess I was wrong in adding Vertical and Helicopters to the poll. You'll have a better understanding why in the near future.

hmmm.... horizontal....

I sure wouldn't mind doing that right about now. Tell me this, why would anyone want to buy a house? You work harder at home than you do at work. Vacation from work just means killing your body for a week at home. I never seem to have time to even read magazines anymore. I just look at the pictures. And Vertical has my vote for best pictures, although it's lacking on the engineering front thus far. Maybe in the future, there will be more maintenance related topics that I could relate to. Once my 'other subscription' runs out, I think I might take the plunge and subscribe to Vertical for awhile (but only if I get a hat)

Thanks Mag Seal.

Actually, not sure if you have noticed, but every issue of Vertical rotates between a feature on maintenance by Gavin Miller (MPLAN Solutions) or a feature on avionics (Walter Shawlee - founder of NAT). The latest issue of Vertical features a story on Trouble Shooting: Being a Mechanical Detective.

Make sure you subscribe soon before the hots run out! 😀

I am interested in what people think of the fixed wing magazines. Are they lacking in content? Are the covering the industry?

I'm kind of like Mag. When I'm done my 'chores' at home, I've barely time enough to look at the pictures, let alone read 'seized rotor' mags or articles.

Like your name idea, 407. But like Mag, it brings me pictures of thick, soft mattresses rather than aerodynes of any persuasion. B)

Well, we all need a place to live; and paying off a mortgage is usually a better move financially than paying rent.

The real question is: why would anyone want to buy a cottage? Everyone I know who has one seems to spend all of their weekends cutting grass, clearing brush, putting docks in or taking them out, washing windows, etc. etc. Taking care of one property is enough for me. And don't get me started on the time wasted in the long drives there and back.

I rest my case...day number 8 of my holidays and i have thrown out my back moving walkway stones....

Dr Summer-off...i am looking for your phone numer..... 😀

Hey Maggie, just out of curiosity, how much time off do you manufacturing types get every year anyways???
