Unless you had a skirt on, Andrew could care less about your issue or helping. If you were a male you should just keep on walking or risk getting a short, rude and unhelpful response. Items in his office were disappearing for weeks. He knew his days were numbered and rightfully so. Anyone who can come into a briefing with spaghetti stains on his Izod shirt and khaki pants, well....doesn't need to be the Manager of In flight PHL International. The example starts at the top.
He will be fine. He owns another business and is fairly involved in Philly politics.

what a true statement...he would also suck up to the top 10% of sr. f/a's I was on a trip one day when a VERY sr. f/a showed up late for the breif...she called Andrew to take the late check in out of her line she did not want to tarnish her "good record" and he did it for her... I knew it would not take Dave W very long to see thru his BS...should have happend long time ago...good riddence

More importantly, let's see how the politics unfold, who will get the job? DW's friend? Or SK's friend? Or SS, niece? Or someone who is completely not qualified but is using the 'buddy system' to get the job. Now we will REALLY see corporate politics in action. Sue is the only one in that office that has proven herself, and she probably won't get it because someone's niece, or nephew, or daughter will get it. Corporate politics on a local level! I am not about kicking a person when they are down. Andrew will be fine. It's the truth. He was ill fitted for the position in the first place and SHAME on whomever promoted him. Oh wait, that was Miss. Muffins from Manchester, UK. AKA former Base Director Angela. What a clear violation of corporate policy. Naughty naughty, in more ways than one.

Well from what I know to be true (hey it's the internet) he was asked to take a position of sorts in the catering department and he really didn't want to take it. So he I assume put in his notice of intent to leave and they pretty much said no need......leave now. It was pretty abrupt and quick. Pretty much as the same as when a line f/a says they are leaving. There is no such thing as a two weeks notice. Your considered some sort of threat and you are done on the spot. So this is what I know to have happened.

No matter what the final days were about, I do remember Andrew fondly from when I was a new hire. I remember he seemed to always be at work (when he was a supervisor) and was the go-to guy for quite awhile. I remember he happily gave his time to the program that the company had with the Girard? School at Christmas and did the whole Santa thing with great sincerity. My impression was that he has gave many years to the company and was as (tragically and blindly) addicted to the company as much as the rest of us.

It is not the first time that I have seen a good person who has excellent rappport with the line employees be promoted for that talent and then take a sad spiral down.

No matter what, I do wish him well.

Sorry you hate Philly so much. It's my home and I'm based here... I like it. I have made a lot of great USAir friends here too.
