CHARM SCHOOL

We always had plenty of time to interact during the course of any given class. DL is a business, not a happy hour get-together. If/when I go to training, I expect to learn something, or at least have some tangible takeaways from my time spent there. I have zero interest in clinking glasses with managers or trainers in the interest of fostering some sort of bonhomie...

Still doesn't answer why DL feels it's okay to ply people with booze, and more importantly why people (in your estimation) need the same in order to be more honest...

Were these people hog-tied and forced fed alcohol, intravenously, by the "Evil" corporation ?

Again, time for people to be accountable for themselves and stop blaming "The Man" !

Another poster noted that DL people use the alcohol as a way to feel more free to talk. I questioned why employees would feel they *couldn't* talk openly w/o it.

I feel free to talk to anyone at Delta, at any time with or with out the use of stimulants or unions !

Maybe some are just more withdrawn than others and need a shot of courage, to say what is on their mind !

Again , as far as I've witnessed, no one has ever been forced to drink alcohol !

Who said they were "forced?"

What does representation have to do with any of this?

Do you often attend Customer Service training sessions?

I do not believe it is about the "alcohol", No one has to drink. I believe Delta wants to teach our employees better customer service skills. It is easier to do that with honey than vinegar. I do not believe Delta is trying to fool anyone, cheat anyone or trick anyone. Maybe some are not use to people being nice. We do need to work on customer service. So its either forcing employees to sit in a class and be annoyed or create a present the info in a fun environment which helps people feel like Delta cares, which fosters us to care about our passengers. Just that simple. No conspiracy.

We do need to work on customer service.

We sure do. How about instead of conscripting employees into a session of "happy talk," we give them the tools they need to do their job efficiently and effectively?

You know this class is mandatory, right? People are going whether they want to or not. No one I know that's gone has come back with a tangible takeaway yet.

Yes i know it is manditory. I have been to this type of meeting before at Song and Delta. I did come away more excited about my company. Try it before you make your opinion. It really is a good investment if you are trying to train people to change thier delivery of info to passengers. Its not that hard to be nice. Instead of bitter. Our customer service scores prove we need an improvement. I do agree that we need better tools to work with. It has also that i work for a company that listens and if they see the benefit in what we are saying they tey to accomidat. give it a chance.

"My" company? I'm sorry; I thought we both worked for DL. My mistake.

NW tried the "hurray for everything" approach once; it was a miserable failure. People don't want/need pep rallies to do a better job; they either need more tools or an improved skill set (or both), to say nothing of the right personality in the first place. If you didn't have that when you were hired, no class is going to magically instill it.

Booze and happy talk are not good investments, IMO. I'd rather see that $$$ going to things like SNAPP.

Give it a chance? Really? You're joking right?

We've been merged for over 2 years now; how much more of a "chance" does DL need?

You were the one who questioned Dl serving alcohol , I guess if they didn't provide some type of food product, you'd b!tch about that also !

You sound so miserable, why don't you leave and work somewhere else, instead of dragging people down with you !

No ones forcing you to stay here, last time I checked!

Ah yes, the typical "if you don't like it, leave" cliche. Why am I not surprised this is all you can ever come up with?

No thanks, I think I'll stay and help to get DL back on track...

OK..............so please explain how DL providing alcohol to "WILLING" employees , is detramental to DL getting on track...............which looks to me like they are doing. Now , if we can just get the unions to stop whining about the vote, get it behind us, we can all move forward to build a better airline !

Kev I really think you are taking my choice of the word "my" way too literally. I pride myself in considering all of us one airline. I am very excited about the possibilities that our merger offers all employees. I used the work MY to describe MY experience in the past. I can not speak for anyone else, but I speak for only myself. I enjoy a good pep rally. It has worked for many companies. My attitude towards my job and OUR company is greatly shaped by how my employers relate to me. I am truly looking forward to working with my counter parts and listening to them share their stories and to be able to share my story. If you are looking for an argument with me I decline to further participate. I am only looking for positive experiences. Please respond with a positive experience. I would appreciate that.

They are using resources toward ineffectual things instead of ones that'll bring actual results. Like I said before, DL is a business, not a cocktail party.

As for the votes, you're group's representation has been decided for some time now. The rest of us are waiting for the legal process to play out. Get over it.

How is my wanting DL to take itself seriously "looking for an argument?" Don't want to participate, fine. That's your right, but don't knock those of us that can still critically think. Someone's gotta tell the Emperor he's got no clothes on... (shrugs)

Tell ya what; I'll share a positive experience when one occurs. How's that?
