Cheerleader Camp August 7th

UW CACTUS,

A serious question. Do you know what the selection criteria if any, was?

The idea as you present it is sound and if it is as you say then bravo.

The challenge is it can't be perceived as a hand picked group of Kool-aide drinkers.
Piney,
We were all sent an e-mail in our CBS that asked each one of us if we wanted to participate in a F/A Focus group to bring our concerns forward to the company. If you were willing to be a part of this group they asked that you send in five of your ideas/concerns for their review. They then choose who would participate from those submissions.
I do know there are two sessions---one morning/one afternoon---not sure how many in each group. I don't know why they didn't just have one big group---I guess if there are smaller numbers there will be better crowd control of the angry mob.

Don't read too much into this, there is probably no criteria to "fit ones agenda" . For one, an FA who has a high number of A&B cards or excellent attendance etc is a great asset to a group like this, but so are the people that don't have that, nor have any fears of speaking out. Sherri welcomes that. She has always welcomed people that are willign to speak their mind. Once these initial meetings are over, those that attended will decide how they feel and go from there. Some may feel empowered, others may feel it's a waste of time. Some may lack the patience that it takes to make things happen in a large company like this. Let it move through it's course and see what takes place. I'm sure you will read something on here about it by someome.

I'm so sure. All this does is make it look like she is doing something with us. People have voiced over and over the fixes needed in inflight... NO RESULTS! Where is the glassware for the EAST? Catering fixes? Better menus? Our inflight management supporting us? Scheduling revamped? Single Contract? Where are the results? All these little roundtable meetings are is window dressing! Enough is enough.

A little off topic....but I was going through the dockets for the China Application that BoeingBoy provided the link for and went to the PDF of the US Airways online petition signatures. I typed my zip code into the Adobe Acrobat Find tool. I was basically just trying to see if randomly anyone that I knew that lived around me had signed it.....and guess what I found out when I stumbled across someone who shared my same zip code?! SHERRI SHAMBLIN LIVES EXACTLY 1 BLOCK FROM ME! I walk my dog by her house all of the time. Anyone want to comission me to doorbell ditch her house or light a flaming bag of dog doo on her front step? TP her house? Any suggestions.

I'm quite sure that before you were invited they FIRST looked into what kind of history you have with the company as a flight attendant AND your ideas fit into what they may want to discuss. I DO believe they want ideas but ideas from the f/a's they want. All I can say is I hope the ideas that come out of this meeting go over better than say ohhhhhh the airbus cart MESS. It's STILL a mess today right along with that back galley. Caterers/flight attendants STILL don't know what way is up. I hope this meeting proves productive and gets some POSITIVE ideas made reality.

Let's look at the number of A&B cards a person gets.... we have an f/a in my base that begs for them and almost shines a FF shoes to get one...I've seen her in action. Almost as sad as the guy that used to put comment cards on the F/C trays to build up his file of good letters....

In this instance, the # of A&B cards means nothing.....

Piney, don't forget SABRE and the flying public when contacting the media.

"Some solutions may prove to be too expensive...","the group may have to find other alternative methods or figure out more realistic approaches"

Again, this is a CHEAP opperation. "LCC" means everything is cheap except executive bonuses. Thank you for confirming it, UWCACTUS. You may think you know what you are doing because LCC has made a profit, but it will be a short lived run of luck and this honeymoon is almost over. You are going to run out of first time flyers (we are already lost most of our loyal customers), you are offering $5000.00 sign on bonuses for wholly owned express pilots and NO ONE is taking the bait because it is obvious to everyone, except those of you with your heads stuck in the desert sand, that NO ONE stays in business when they treat their customers and employees like this company does.

They also have pointed opinions about the direction US is headed and this process denies them access which is patently unfair.

Great response, Bob.

"Fairness" is certainly a valid part of a selection process, but, more importantly (IMO), a process set up in this manner is self-defeating and will result in cheerleaders for Sherri, a feather in Sherri's resume and not much else.

One criteria that would test the concept would be to ensure a majority of "rebels" in a group. Find out why they rebel and your problem areas and, in many cases, solutions, will define themselves. It would take a talented manager to lead such a group but the returns could far exceed any cost. If Sherri's motivation was to find someone better than herself, then I would have hope. Not likely.

Historically this company toes the water to test the temperature and that is about as deep as any group gets, seizing on the first "idea" that can pad a resume. Attendees desiring anything deeper are traditionally not invited to subsequent gatherings or quietly shut down.

Telling the F/A about the program via CBS, in this day of multi-directional "email", is problematic in itself, a top-down only management tool that is part of the problem.

Anyone on here actually attend cheer camp? If so, can you give us the 4-1-1 on what went down? The good and the bad.

I know from the picture in About US that at least two of the attendees were westies. The former council 66 MEC president and his FA wife. 🙄

Hoping someone on here can tell us what, if anything, was achieved.

Thx.

Unless I overslept two whole days, the camp hasn't happened yet... so how can the picture be in About US?

My apologies, that's what I get for just looking at the pictures and not reading the entire article. Sorry, my apologies.

According to About US management has already been working with individuals from different work groups on marketing issues. I assumed it was the cheer camp. 😳

So, when cheer camp does occur, I trust that someone will update us on the outcome.

That picture you a referring to is a completely different meeting. Not the FA focus group. That is the group that is part of the branding of business casual. Keep your information straight, that is why this board is full of inaccurate information and is detrimental to those that read it.

Read my post above yours. I took responsibility for the error, perhaps we just cross posted. I did do a quick edit for a spelling error. In any case, point is taken.
