Apparantly, YES. It is zeroed out in RES. for next summer.
So where are these planes going to be redeployed to?
Why can’t AA make it in Europe outside of major hubs?
Dunno. Maybe they'll be parked.
That's a very good question.
Every airline lacking LHR access is throwing capacity at non-restricted European routes like it's a gold rush.
AA has tried to fly to non-restricted European cities and by and large has given up on many of those efforts.
Maybe the "the LCCs can't touch us if we dramatically increase capacity to non-restricted European locations" crowd will make tons of money doing so. Then again, maybe they won't.
I prefer the simplistic answer: AA sucks and DL is the best. B)

What markets can AA increase widebody service in?
There are no frequencies currently available under the US-Brazil or Argentina treaties.
Manchester and Shannon also axed. Its in the UK press now.
AA already has Brazilian governemnt permission to fly an additional five weekly flights to Brazil over the 47 weekly frequencies they have, which they did last winter. They have asked the Brazilian government for another seven.
With the Varig website currently saying that Varig has suspended flight ops until further notice, I suspect that AA will get some additional frequencies:

The Varig website hasn't been updated for more than a week. They have resumed operations. In fact, they only suspended MIA-GRU for a day.
Long-haul, they are only flying to MIA, JFK, LHR, CPH, and FRA.

I'd love to know who made up that.
Shannon isn't being axed, it is being transfered from Boston to Chicago.
Manchster is not being axed. The second frequency that operated form Miami in the winter and Boston in the summer is gone, but the daily flight to O'Hare stays.
