Do you know what the difference in middle class and poverty is?
Do you know the difference in self reliance and welfare?
Do you know what the difference in Southwest Airlines and MidAtlantic is?
How about $13.50 an hour compared to$20.00, for a 20 year guy?
Do you know how to say $7.00 an hour pay cut?
Now you know what class 2 is all about, becoming a second class Citizen.

FWIW, it boggles my mind how an agent working a 50-seat RJ should be paid any less (or more) than an agent working a 169 seat A321. It would seem the cost savings would come from not needing as many agents. What am I missing?
According to the contract I have (the old one, still waiting for the new and improved version that hasnt been sent out), it states that for CWA.
After the initial establishment of Class1 and Class11 stations, if a Class1 station's scheduled mainline weekly jet departures are reduced to a level below 64 on an annualized basis, that station shall become a Class11 station.

I have heard that it allows cross utilization between Ramp and Customer Service. It is what I hear ILM is doing now.
By the way, they are still getting mainline pay as a class 2 station. That may not last, but going class 2 does not mean automatic mainline/express pay.

Rumor is ILM is going MDA.... soon as it's up and running.
I am unaware of cross utilization in any class II NC or SC station. If it's being done anywhere, somebody speak up.
It is in the IAM-fleet and CWA contracts - 25% of an agent's schedule can be in the other department.
It has never been used in my station. I've seen OT paid out in fleet while a c/s open-time agent worked 'extra' up top. Go figure!
On the last page of the '99 fleet service contract, there is a list of of class I and class II stations. Most of the class II's have been expressed, and I'm confident the rest are soon to fall. Along with several stations on the class I list.
What steams me is the IAM sold these stations out without blinking an eye - they've been expendable from the get-go. And don't be surprised when the MDA language, being negotiated as we speak, and which we will not get a vote on, contains some nasty surprises. I'm just betting we get hosed out of severance and unemployment, along with a one time offer to accept MDA employment. The 'negotiators' know the big stations will go for it to save their own asses.
