Interesting statements made by this Hawaiian newsletter. Obviously this is all speculation and not based on any real attributed source, but interesting that they would make such statements.

" Wide-flying industry rumors now indicate that the 767 flight is about to be scrubbed."....."If you intend to fly nonstop from Charlotte to Honolulu, I suggest you do so soon. Otherwise, plan on puddle-jumping your way to Hawaii or backtracking to Newark."

Meh, the loads on the flight are always look pretty good. Can't speak for the yields though. When the route was announced though, there was widespread speculation that the route was started just to keep the 767 in the air since we had cut multiple European cities and nowhere to stick the plane. Maybe they have thought of a more profitable place to put it?

For what it is worth, I am hearing that the route may go to the 332 as we are destroying the 767s. Many of our 767s have well over 90,000 hours.

I just did a quick look and the loads look pretty heavy over the next few days.

As long as they are maintained they can keep flying.

The 767s have an annual HMV visit to maintain them.

The Loads over the Next Few Days may be good, but they have been POOR at best the last two months. First is almost always full and coach is been right around 100 souls which sadlly has included the non-revs. The other part of this, is that because the aircraft lack of lift, not much if any freight is carried on the flight westbound.

But the older the aircraft gets, the more hours/cycles, it gets more and more expensive to maintain. Most come to a point of not being cost effective to keep/maintain.

AA 762's have far more cycles (and time) on them. Each one does about 3 transcons per 24 hours, or about 18 hours of flying in a 24 hour day. But, AA doesn't try to squeak out maximum range on them either.....

I can't imagine a 332 on this route when it can generate higher yielding revenue in coach and Envoy on other routes. But, if it were that would be the nicest First class seat to Hawaii from the mainland US.

Loads have been dismal. Combine that with the fact that you are dealing with a long-haul, leisure route and you're dealing with a lot of red ink. I was always surprised that they intended to launch it as year-round, though I thought it might do well during the winter but that hasn't been the case.

Ultimately with the economy starting to recover, there will be better places for a B767 to be used (GRU being the top possibility if the US/DL slot swap is approved).

Why put a 767 on that GRU route. I'd use a A330, but Tempe's thinking, it'll be the 767, maybe a 757! lol
