CLT-HNL on the chopping block?

Why put a 767 on that GRU route. I'd use a A330, but Tempe's thinking, it'll be the 767, maybe a 757! lol

I agree a A332 would be more competitive in terms of the product, but it might be a tad too big of an airplane to use on CLT-GRU from the get go. Either way, if they choose to use an A332 then they can use the B767 on the route that they will be pulling the A332 off of.

PLEASE, someone DO NOT suggest a Dash 8.
This idiotic cliche was funny the first and ONLY first time it was used. It has become so tiresome and unimaginative.

i hate to burst yalls bubble but from early October to December 18 clt-hnl is not appearing on usairways.com

When it was announced, it was promoted as "daily, year-around" service.

This flight must be cursed. It's on-time rating on flightstats.com is 0.2 out of 5.0 and that's being generous.

807 delayed for a mechanical .... to start! Called to work the trip. They "said" they wanted it to depart at 1:00pm but that didn't happen. So they scheduled departure at 3:00p.

Pilots timed out at 2:00p. FAs were there. Get on-board. FAs realize that the earlier crew "cooked" the meals at 8;00am. During repair, plane had no power, thus no food to the chillers for at least 4 hours. FAs contacted catering to let them know that they needed to replace all the meals.

Catering mgr said "the crew shouldn't have cooked the meals". Well 1st Class meals weren't cooked but they have been sitting in warm air and need to be replaced. Well during this debacle, front-end crew timed-out. Had to get new pilot crew...... delay.

After arguing for almost an hour, they told us they couldn't get new meals until 4:30pm, which threatened the legaility of the back-end crew. Lo and behold they "found" meals for both front and back. No ice cream,

We left at 4:00pm! All in all it was a great flight because the crew really worked hard to reverse the perception. It was a great trip!

Ps. full both ways.

Isn't it amazing? It must be a genetic thing with all airlines. As soon as they realize that the crew can tell time, meals are found, parts (that didn't exist in that station) get installed...whatever it takes to keep the crew legal.

If the replacement FA's come on and determine that the food has gone bad, been cooked or whatever, it needs to be replaced. Period. A FA supervisor can come to the plane or have the food checked after it has been replaced and determine whether the FA's were correct, but there is no valid reason to deny swapping out bad food for new food because failing to do so will either potentially sicken the passengers or cause the FA's to decide not to serve the meal. Either action will mean potentially 11 hours for the passengers with little or no food.

You all have to remember the making and prep of the food is outsourced to LSG Skychefs in CLT, they just dont have a 767s worth of food ready to go at a moments notice to replace a flight that has all ready been catered.

No, I didn't forget but I would expect that they have some meals rotated through the freezer so that there are emergency meals available.

Having use to work International and had to bring the international trash to LSG to burn, the meals are not frozen, they are prepared fresh and not frozen and are done about 12 hours before the flight. The meals are made not bought premade frozen.

I had suggested they "Rob Peter to Pay Paul" .... take food from a later TA flight, then they can replace the later TA flights's meals. They didn't do that until the last minute (again, when they found out the FA crew was getting ready to turn into pumpkins) and be faced with yet another delay.

This should have been thought of WAY earlier and not be the FAs... Anywhoo, with the exception of the poor FA working the galley swtiching out first class meals (they kept the setups, threw out and replaced salads and hot meals) it all worked out quite nicely. She worked her butt off!

The problem with that is the A330s leave around 7pm, that isnt enough time to replace over 200 meals and its probably different food, the food is prepped and done all ready and the most of the cooks and prep people are are done and home all ready at that time of day.
