Was wondering how the new nonstop from CMH to LAX has been doing? Is DL able to fill a 737 on this new route?

Load factors are doing pretty good on it...tomorrow there are only 19seats left on the plane..

According to www.sidestep.com and www.delta.com they use the 737-800

Apparently the route has been doing quite well, not only filling the passenger cabin but the cargo bin as well. Evergreen uses the redeye to ship cargo over to Columbus, providing DL with even more revenue on the route. In fact, come June, Delta will add a one-stop LAX flight leaving CMH at 6:30AM in addition to the nonstop. The one-stop will go to CVG before continuing on to LAX. Here's hoping they continue to do well on the route.

Is Delta trying to stop AirTran? Or Southwest?

With some of the fares out there, 19 seats open or none open does not really tell the tale...Theough maybe the yield is a tad higher from CMH?!

AirTran doesn't fly to CMH. CMH was one of ValuJet's cities and, after the infamous accident, business was non-existent. So, it was dropped.

DL is just trying to fill a point-to-point need. Since WN is big in CMH, the CMH-LAX fares are probably on the low side.

because it's an evening/night flight, there's not a whole lot of risk. the option is that the plane would sit on the ground or at best fly for just a few more hours and then sit for the night. Getting 8 hrs out of an otherwise unused asset should yield some revenue esp. during this summer which is looking to be very strong for all US airlines.
