Just on, one of the best stories I have seen so far.
Highlights:
10 Years ago Delta was the Best Airline in the world the about 6 years ago he said something happened and they are now a dog with flees.
He would rather have Doug Parker & Scott Kirby running Delta far more than anyone currently at Delta.
He thinks the offer is way to good to turn down and the marlets seems to agree, US stock up big, Delta debt up 40%!
He thinks CLT will be the hub to be reduced freeing up lots of gates for SWA, JBLU and ATA which will get things past the DOJ and will also be a big boon for that city.
When talking about "why" he said East Coast & Europe, that US basicaly has no international pressence (That kinda counters what all the US people told all the AWA people which was "Now you work for a big International carrier").
The more I look at this the more I think it will happen. The markets and big money people like it, nobody seems to have much faith in current Delta managment. If Delta managment hasn't gotten behind this things will get real interesting in mid Feb when the BK exclusetivity runs out.

I saw the Jenkins story while sorting laundry. I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was the fumes from the Spray-n-Wash.

The major sticking point for me was Jenkins assertion that Parker and Kirby are addressing problems as they arise. That is simply not true. Problems are being allowed to fester until there is no choice but to try and "fix" them. Even so, the "fixes" have been either inadequate or ineffective, IMO.

So-called analysts for industry and service sectors of the economy tend to be self-professed experts with little practical experience working in the operations they analyze. I view Jenkins comments as being endemic of persons who have a financial stake in the sectors on which they comment.

Sounds like you're speaking of that pesky coward who posts here once in a while. You know 320 something or other.

I was thinking that should have been a question during Senor Parker's many non answer sessions.

Just like 1988 and 1989, no one is running this here show. PHL could be called exhibit A today as the West Coast was during that time.

Meanwhile the merger is 'on-track' and will stay so until shortly before deadline when it suddenly won't be. One would think that some of the former U folk would remember that. Wouldn't you?

If JFK is the PHL counterpart than I've heard its just as bad. The runway wait is so long that DL passes out icecream as a normal routine. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I can. There is no airport in this country worse than PHL. None. Zippo. Nada. PHL is far and away the worse airspace/concrete conglomeration ever. Much worse than JFK, ATL, ORD, LAX, SFO, LGA, EWR, or even ERI.

Nothing can compare. If they pass out ice cream at JFK, they would have to pass out Sugar Daddy's at PHL. And you would be done with the Sugar Daddy long before you'd leave the ground in PHL on a weather day with an East operation or a TRW day no matter which runway was in use.

PHL is bad. The LCC operation there makes it even worse.

I'm quite sure I've never been offered a sugar daddy on any flight.. and (depending)...... SORRY... can't do it... it was too easy, but just too (potentially) too dirty.

I have to disagree. My longest waits for take off have been at EWR and ORD.

I'm sorry but that's crap. I spent once a month in Atlanta on an unscheduled overnight 'flight cancelled' or 'crew rest' back 4 years ago on Delta, which is what started me on USAir. I have flown through PHL for about 1.5 years every single week including summer and winter (about 2.5 calendar years with some time at home spread here there and yonder) and have not ONE TIME spent the night in Philadelphia. I've wanted to so that I could charge it to my company but it hasn't happened once.

That's because US Airways handles the PHL situatio so well. No doubt.

Give it time, you'll come to reality sooner or later.
