CNN In the Money

I have never argued against that for a minute. I do however, find it funny that most here assume the creditors are giddy about US's proposal.

Why would the creditors not take the offer that puts the most value (stock or cash) in their pocket?

Kool-Aid is a Kraft Foods product. 😛

Dah...I know that Hopper, I simply picked another Atlanta company in jist!! I'll try to by MORE exact the next time in joking!! Gee, you Deltiods DON'T know how to take a joke!
Dougie thought it was cute!

Delta's secret plan is only that "A Plan" nothing more..nothing less. Not one person knows if the "Delta Plan" will prove it play the creditors the monies owed. Let another security issue arise overseas or here and the "Plan" is worth nothing. Dougies money is on the table right now....and it's GREEN, real GREEN. If I'm a creditor and owed mucho money from a company that hasn't been able to pay me a dime... I'm taking Dougies cash, with a smile on my face and running to the bank with a deposit slip. In todays world of aviation I'm not waiting around to see if "The Plan' plays me my money. After numerous extensions allowed, the creditors are seeing "Smoke and Mirrors" again. This time in Delta's plan, Us Airways ISN'T going away in more ways then one!! With Dougie in bed with Bank of America in CLT...if he needs a few more Billion it's probably already in escrow!!

I am sorry. I wasn't aware you knew what DL's proposal was before it was even presented.

Dougies plan is full of question marks. DOJ approval. 35% route overlap. Labor isssues he still can't resolve from the AW merger that will pale in comparison to this merge. Those were AW and US pilots picketing the other day weren't they?
Synergies??? God god, more corporate speak. Next comes the right sizing.
4B in stock won't be worth #### it US can't get it under control.

DP has done a heroic job of keeping two airlines from going under (with a lot of help from the US taxpayer). He is to be commended for it. However he has NOT merged US/HP yet and has NOT demonstrated that he is interested in actually running an airlne.

Until that happens I do not think the DL folks will be very excited about this merger. DP has the US folks excited about moving to the higher pay rates! They should be asking themselves, why a carrier in BK has a higher pay rate then theres. DL folks are no doubt asking what is in it for them.
"with a lot of help from the US taxpayer"
 How was the US taxpayer involved with the AWA takeover of Usairways ?? The government backed bankrupcy loans were paid back!
It was the employees of Usairways [the ones that were obligated to participate in the HUGE concession bankrupcy deal],that made the AWA takeover of Usairways possible.

The US Airways pilots were out informational picketing BECAUSE after mergeing two airlines LCC is making nice profits. Can't wait, and WE ALL will be the first to remind you when and I say again when DAL emerges as this almighty standalone that's been pumped into you from the northside of the airport and you begin to make nice profits...there you'll be all dolled up in line in front of the ATL terminal wanting your share after taking a paycut. The first time DAL turns a couple of quarters with a profit the double-breasted blazers will be out in force. We will remind you or will you be happy with you huge paycut. That's why you saw LCC pilots picketing...DOUG'S company is MAKING money now and the pilots want a portion..pretty simple!! I know the DAL pilots are happy with their cut and will be when DAL makes a little. Right! You know darn well there luv2fly boy why the pilots where out there..well maybe you don't. They wouldn't be out there if LCC was bleeding. Take another sip of "Kool-Aid" and try to understand. I have a neighbor who flys at DAL and I swear he has his drink shipped in almost everyday...talk about obnoxios(sp)! Up to the day DAL tanked and was bleeding about 8 to 10 mil per day...he kept telling me "everythings OK"!

Oh, they will.
The Delta folks still believe creditors are loyal to them, not the dollar. Naive.

No, I asked why the creditors would not take the plan that put the most money in their pocket. I made no assumptions as to which is/was a better offer, merely asked why the creditors would not take the one with the most money for them.

Please don't put words in my mouth.

And I answered your question as to why they might choose a DL proposal, even if it is less than what might be proposed by US in the near term.

hp_fa, I knew exactly what you asked..
The problem is, some are not in touch with reality.

I guess some believe the creditors of Delta would take an offer from Delta management that is inferior to Parker's offer, [Even when Delta management is screwing them over in bankrupcy court].

I don't know how this is going to turn out, But it ALWAYS ends up with whoever offers the most $$$$$$. Imagine that.

Then your neighbor was/is naive. Everybody knew DL was headed for BK just as they knew it with US,NW, and UAL.
Now lets talk about labor issues. I have no problem with US and AW pilots picketing or any other US employee group. I hope you get what you deserve and are compensated for what you gave up. I also understand that I am stuck with my POS contract for the next three years. That is what the DL pilot group agreed to.
You completely missed my point. Whether they are warranted or not, the US/AW merger is plagued with labor issues. Those issues will be further exasperated by another merger.
It is assinine to believe that the creditors will not want to know how Dougie is going to conted with these issues in light of the fact that 4B of the proposal will be in LCC stock.
There is no sunshine pumping on my part when it comes to the current management at DL so you can stifle your coolaid lecture. I just don't believe this merger represents the best interests of DL's employees or DL Airlines. The creditors will ultimately decide. We'll just have to wait an see won't we?

Depends on what you are talking about. Are you trying to take your money and run, or are you looking to maximize your ROI? The creditors committee is made up of some long term investors.

Yeah, These long term investors on the creditors committee have been taking it in the shorts from Delta management, thanks to the bankruptcy filing.
I don't believe these investors have any love loss for Delta's management.

"Dont understand why DL would be "screwed" if we merge?"

Yea we are hearing a lot of hand ringing from the Delta faithful, but Delta comes out of this better not worse, I see no down side for Delta or it's employees (even ATL) other than the uncertianty aspects. This would be one kick ass airline, potentially! With ATL & PHL as it's largest Hubs, CLT & PHX as just smaller hubs and focus cities of LAS, LAX, CVG, PIT and NY areas.
Why not ditch your PHL hub as it seems to make daily negative press for customer service, thus bringing down the image of the remainder of the airline...
