CNN Sniper Video

CNN aired a program in which they showed US soldiers being shot by snipers.

You can find a link to it here:
Anderson Cooper Blog

I agree with Duncan Hunter that CNN should be banned from the military embedding program.
See Fox News story.
Do they want to encourage the terrorists? They certainly are when they air stuff like this.
Thats because Liberals want us to lose this war, because of their hatred for the Bush administration. Sad but True!

Orwell would be proud of you. Only show the good news, not the bad huh? Do you think the terroist don't know they are killing us soldiers? It's the peopl ein this country that have no idea what's happening.

US soldiers are dying. People need to know that. They need to see what war is about. It's not some walk in the park. If men and women are dying, and the American people think the fight is valid, they will support it. If as in this case men and women are dying and the people feel it is fruitless, then they will make their voices heard loud and clear.

Your president is getting these men and women killed for reasons that a majority of the people in this country no longer support. We have a right and an obligation to know that war means people will die. We need to be damn sure we want our service men and women to die for a legitimate cause before we send them off.

I agree with Duncan Hunter that if in WWII we had shown Nazi and Japanese footage of our soldiers being killed at Normandy and Iwo Jima people would be outraged. Kinda like broadcasting Tokyo Rose on local American radio stations. This is no different. People don't need to be shown the brutality that our soldiers have to face. Unless they are ignorant, they already know.

Maybe we should show the videos of terrorists beheading people.

Your Orwell analogy is a very false one. To compare cutting CNN from the embedding program to the situation in 1984 is pretty lame. I suppose you also support the ACLU in their opposition of protecting children from porn sites (See Article) but that's another thread...

If Americans need to know about the war, why don't we see more clips of Iran's President Ahmadinejad saying that Isreal needs to be destroyed, or that it is their responsibility to usher in the 12th imam (by starting a huge war)? Why don't we see more reports on the good things happening in Iraq--like voting, schools being built, etc. Why don't they put more emphasis on all the people Saddam was killing before we arrived?

Showing American soldiers being shot takes it way too far. If they're going to do that, then they at least ought to put videos like this one on the news. Of course, notice in that video that we can't even shoot the "mosque" that the Muslim terrorist are running into. Why not? Because CNN and the rest of the liberal media will be quick to point out that we blew up a mosque and it will just fuel the terrorists' fanaticism even more.

I seem to recall Ahmadinejad speech plastered all over the news for several days. As for the other ‘good things’ I do not have an explanation. Perhaps you can ask the liberal bastion FOX the same question. Perhaps it is because having close to 80 US soldiers killed in one month (and it is not even over yet) 3 years after "mission accomplished" far out weighs a school being built.

BTW, yes I do support the ACLU but as you said that’s a separate thread (created just for you).

What schools? The building of new schools started and stopped in 2005. Voting? What did that get the people? Liberation? Can they walk the streets? Shop? Whose taking care of the agriculture? Can the Iraqi people be safe and go to a mosque and worship? There are death squads everywhere and snipers. There are "cerfews in place". Whose getting the OIL out of the ground in Iraq? What kind of current commerce do they have going on? My friend who lives in Egypt said that the only jobs in Iraq are in the police or their military. The Iraqi people are in occupation by the insurgence. What have you been reading, pal?????

It is appparent to me that sectarian violence had been going on when Saddam was in power. His military was able to curb the violence and keep the factions and country under some "order". U.S. can't do either, and their "elected" leadership in Iraq, can't do it at all!

The U.S. along with the nations of the world need to focus and discuss a collective effort to disarm IRAN; not Iraq.

U.S. chose the wrong country to invade, and 3,000 troop deaths and 20,000 troops injured, along with $350 billion later, U.S. can't put their direct efforts in focusing on a definite threat to the Middle East peace and WORLD...Ahmadinejad

Wouldn't that be great. Take CNN out of Iraq and get all of your war coverage from state run propoganda machine Fox News. Stalin would be proud of that approach. My President, My Allegiance.

So go hid under your bed and the boggy man will go away, is that your answer?

Do you actually think that pulling out will make the radical Muslims peaceful worldwide, or produce a catalyst to increase their Satanic ploys.

When some bully starts on you every day at lunch first by taking your lunch and then by taking your lunch and hitting you, what's you reaction, cry and tell the teacher, or giving him a bloody nose and setting him on his butt?

You people are clueless. What this nation faces is of biblical portions. This is good versus evil and becoming the show down at the OK coral on a world wide stage. You leftist are so fixated on your slanted twisted immoral policies, sex drugs roll & roll, what’s Madonna studying and who is doing Jessica that nothing else matters not even our very existence as a nation, which is exactly what's at stake here! Satan no doubt has the buffoons in his clutch looking the other way, it’s scary and I am only glad I won’t have to face his demonic music which is growing louder everyday.

First, lets not look at this as CNN reporting a sniper shooting. Look at it as a news organization "X" showing any newsworthy event. These countries laws are based on precedent. If CNN is barred from reporting what it believes is a newsworthy event what is to stop the government from doing it again and again. Do you not feel that would have a chilling affect on news coverage? If there is outrage, the public will make their voice heard and the free enterprise / capitalist society we live in will make a market correction. IMO, the government does not have the right to censor what I see and hear. The US government is not trustworthy to make that decision. As far as I can tell very little has been made of the video which means either most people do not see it as a problem or very few have seen it to begin with.

I don't think they should be barred but should they should be exposed for being used as a tool for terrorist propaganda. The terrorists know that they can't beat us military but they know that they can destroy our will to fight as seen during the Viet Nam war. Hence their major push to win their battles in the media.

I have absolutely no problem with that. How ever the original poster of this thread wanted them barred. As I said, if the public finds their actions distasteful, CNN will suffer the consequences as they should.

I guess its only enemy propaganda if its not in a GOP campaign add, right? If its a GOP add, then by all means give Osama all the air time he needs. Add a few flag draped coffins for "effect". Cause its all ok to you GOP losers. You eat it up. Loser hippocrites.
