Code Share With Southwest?

I read somewhere that they are looking for a possible partner for the Caribbean and Hawaii.

My opinion...NO! But anything's possible...look what's happened to this industry just over this past year! I've also read that WN may hook up w/either Alaska or Hawaiian. The latter seems like it might be more feasible.

I'd add a NO to that question also. Interesting facts: In 2007 Southwest flew 101,911,000 domestinc airline passengers between 64 cities. In 2007 US Airways flew 42,172,000 passengers between 179 domestic an 52 international cities. Whats wrong here???

I would never say never, but it makes no sense for US and WN to code share. WN is a much better run airline, despite the lack of perks. (and that came from ME?)

No one wants to code share with US, let alone the only profitable airline left out there. I can see WN partnering with Hawaiian and a Caribbean carrier in the future. When ATA went under, they lost their code share. The only other airline I think they would even consider is Jetblue as a code share.

We already code share with UAL and a few others. And being a member of the Star Alliance is really a code share program of sorts.

But I don't think Southwest would want to code share with LCC. There's nothing in it for them that they couldn't get from regionals like Hawaiian. If they are looking for a Caribbean code share, Spirit seems to me to be the likely and most appropriate choice.
 
Along with the recent Westjet announcement, I would hazard a guess at Hawiian for the feed to the Islands. The Carribbean, I think we should do it ourselves....

Does anyone have "stage length" information for US Airways and Southwest ? Thanks
 
IIRC from the 1st quarter reports, WN's average stage length was just over 600 miles while US' was just over 900 miles.

However, since you asked in the context of passenger numbers (and those are enplaned passengers, not individual passengers) maybe you're more interested in the average passenger journey length - that I'd have to dig out (assuming both airlines publish it).
