Well, after a two year stint in corporate hell (using a volunatary furlough), I have decided come back to work as a flight attendant. I believe I will be starting work with a fresh and positive outlook. While I understand things have been unpleasant since I left, I can't wait to leave my cube, constantly ringing telephone, pda, email piles, and workahoic boss behind. The sheer joy of not bringing work home every night and weekend will be a god-send. The fact that my healthcare costs will decrease by $150.00 per month (and that I'll have dental) will put a smile on my face. Not spending thousands of dollars on clothes and drycleaning (no corporate casual in my office) will make me jump for joy (although I do have some great suits and ties that will no longer see any use). Quite frankly, I can't wait to put on the navy blue polyester December 2. I can't wait to not have to justify a meal in an expense report, attempt a two paragraph explanation of the decrease in average office rents over the past five years in a particular market, or listen to a diatribe of a city official in regards to a zoning change.

You never know what you got till it's not there. I'm happy to be coming home and really look forward to working with (most) of you soon.

Cheers!

CLT based. Although my 1987 seniority would offer me a line, I plan to bid reserve. It will be easier for me planning my schedule for my last year at UNC-Charlotte. I'd like to just work weekends and go to school full-time during the week. From what I've seen in the lines of flying, no pure schedule exists like that. Any ideas? I have no clue as to how the new electronic trade board works.

CBDS,

Wow, thank you for your honesty! It is very good to pass things like this on as it helps us all to keep things in perspective.

Yes we have all suffered greatly over the last several years...but we continue to have a good job all things considered. I have always advocated that people do what you did when they think the grass is greener out there.

All industries are under pressure right now, and labor by in large is suffering everywhere.

Welcome back!

CLTB...,

Your attitude and perspective on the "out side" is refreshing. Thanks for your imput. Think you will find things the same. Enjoy your return!

Having just met Ms. Karstares--sorry if the spelling is wrong--I have an impression to comment on. Remember I said I'd give her a chance since the culture is much different here than at the old us?? Well, she came to meet us last week and I was QUITE impressed. She not only jumped out of her chair to shake my hand but smiled and went around to all of us and said hello. Even helped present an agent with her 15 year pin here.
She smiled and laughed and was just one of us while here.
I think she is also much happier here than she was at the old us. She really impressed me in her knowledge of Hp and her friendly manner while here.
I will give her even more of a chance now. I like her.

Hey Drifterreno,
Its good that you are willing to be open-minded about MS. Carstairs. Hopefully the change will affect her positively.

😛 Both might be in order. I should have mentioned that my return is only temporary. I will finish my urban planning degree in Spring 2007 and will hopefully be gainfully employed desiging cities shortly thereafter. I guess the point of my post was that I have seen both sides now and have an open mind to most anything that is thrown my way (with the possible exception of S&M and bondage...not my thing).

Look forward to seeing you out there, Mr Roach!

Clt,

I came back June 1 and it was different than it was before! However the Pax will love to see a new smiling face! They have commented several times that they are glad to see someone who is positive about the job and that seems to love it! There are alot of changes, but you will adjust! If you can hold a line do it that way instead of reserve. The reserve system isn't the way it use to be. At least being a line holder you can drop your trios on the ETB. If you want to PM me I can answer any questions you may have!
