continental age descrimination / forced concessions

My guess is because the IBT did not come to them. I think the IBT has the attitude that if a group just sits back waiting for a union to come to them then thats the type of membership that group will be. Inactive and unwilling to act in their own behalf. I dont think the IBT wants that type of membership, but the TWU loves that type of membership, one that just pays dues and doesnt do or expect much.
heads up guys..... the IBT rep from a/c maint. told me he did not know why the IBT wasn't actively persuing the ramp even though friends of mine in the IBT (local members) thought it was a great idea..... after all it is all about the $$$$$$ do we all agree?????? i was also told by an ol g/f who is a f/a for CAL that she was told by a mutual friend of ours, who is in mid-managemet at CAL, that the IAM was told to only put out a token effort to organize the ramp, which is exactly what happened! lets not compare NW or AA to CAL..... !!!!!!! CAL only likes to compare us to the other carriers when its time for concessions.......... before gordon bethune left
CAL, he told a friend of mine in upper management he didnt care if the ramp when union as long as it want the TEAMSTERS or the IAM 😱 connecting the dots...... if the ramp is aligned with the CAL f/a or a/c maint. the 2 combined groups would have almost as much clout as the pilot group as far as a slowdown or work stoppage!!!!!
does this sound feasible???????? is it time to call in a fire mission on my own pos.??????

Imagine that. The TWU is using the fear of a merger with UAL to get Continental to organize. Well if thats the case then the TWU is the last Union the Continental workers would want. WHY? Because when TWU represented AA bought IAM represented TWA the TWU had the IAM workers stapled to the bottom as if they had no union. What do you think will happen to the Continental workers if they merge with the larger UAL?

Now you are starting to make sense. When you call in tell them you want the IBT. Hopefully we will join you in a year or so!

Absolutely.

Yes.

Absolutely.
Yes.
Houramp, looks like a concensus so far. You have Fleet Service workers and mechanics various airlines, all union, warning about picking the wrong union. We know what the fix is. We have to work towards consolidating the labor movement into a single more democratic, capable, organization, by going TWU you will be doing the opposite of what needs to be done.
