There a no plans to fly IAH-PEK or IAH-FRA anytime soon.We dont have enough widebodies to fly from EWR to all the new cities in Europe, much less any new long haul out of IAH. That's why Maui was switched over to LAX-OGG because its now on a 757 ,which frees up a 764.Trust me, the Germans aren't too happy with CAL sending all these 757's to Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne. Larry has stated we will not be getting any more widebodies after the 2 777's in 07 until the 787 is ready. Too bad. 🙁 .This summer there will be no 777's flying to Europe save for LGW. It'll be 767's and 757's.I bet in 2-3 years they will send 739's over the pond. You heard it here first!!!

Boeing is telling the airlines that late 08 is when ANA will get the first dreamliners.CO will probably not get em till early to mid 09, so it'll be at least 3 years!Too bad CAL didn't grab some of those 763's that Delta just dumped, or maybe they weren't up to CAL specs.IIRC they were the regular -300's, not the -300 ER's.

Too bad about IAH-PEK 🙁 Have several trips sched. for several teams from May- December. We love CO but wont deal with Newark!! Looks as though UA will be getting the business from us on those trips. We will surely make copies of the tickets and iteneraries to send in to corporate, maybe that will help pursuade them to invest in more widebodies sooner........

Fear NOT !!!

You'll get you wish, when UA "invests" in CO

UAL has enough "twin aisles" to go around.

Pretty safe bet(I feel), that you'll see UA/CO BEFORE you see the first CO 787 !

Saudi Arabia only has the raw material. China produces the silk, but Paris is still the fashion capital of the world. Washington, D.C. prints the money, but New York City is the financial capital of the world.

Yes IAH is the oil and gas capitol of the world 🙂 All roads made lead to Rome but all pipelines lead to IAH. Mega deals and decisions are made here that affect a large chunk of the world, so hopefully our hometown airline will give us more nonstops to emerging countries with a hunger for oil. 🙂 We love our home based companies 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Oh, and you'd rather deal with SFO or ORD delays?

IIRC the right to fly to China is controlled by the DOT. CO only has the rights to 1 flight per day.

I am not sure when or if the two countries will add more frequencies or liberalize the agreement.

I would rather have a nonstop from here, but if im going to be delayed, i would rather atleast be heading in the direction of my final destination-PEK in this case. Newark isnt in the direction i wish to travel. 🙂

For a ten day trip in April, UA will be recieving around $60,000 from us for a nine member team. This is the first of seven scheduled trips for this year. If things continue on the path they are on now,and we fully expect them to, the number of trips will only increase! We will make sure we make Continental aware of it.

Send your letters and copies of the UA tickets directly to Mr. Bethune. If CO is anything like AA and you direct your correspondence to anyone lower in the company, it will get buried and never make it to the people who matter.

Correct. The current agreement provides for substantial expansion of USA-based airline access to China over the next few years. I assume that AA, CO and DL will be fighting over the future frequencies - and I expect that CO and AA will be the successful applicants.

UA and NW will make token applications for additional frequencies, but I doubt they will be seriously considered - both airlines already having most of the combination frequencies (all except for the 14 weekly frequencies between AA and CO - seven each).

IIRC, 2007 and 2008 will see addtional authorities and frequencies granted by the DoT.
