Copa Airlines and Continental Airlines Expand Codeshare Agreement
Wednesday December 17, 12:10 pm ET

PANAMA CITY, Panama--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 2003--Copa Airlines and Continental Airlines have announced an expansion of their codeshare agreement to benefit passengers on both airlines on flights throughout the U.S. and Central America. The expansion increases the number of Copa/Continental codeshare flights from 27 U.S. destinations to 127.
"This expansion of our codeshare agreement with Continental Airlines strengthens our existing commercial alliance, as well as increases the flexibility and comfort enjoyed by our passengers when they travel and connect seamlessly between Copa and Continental," said Dan Gunn, Vice President of Planning, Copa Airlines. "The expanded codeshare agreement also fortifies the Hub of the Americas, which Copa Airlines operates in Panama."

Codeshare agreements allow the airlines to sell seats on each other's flights and offer passengers the convenience of one-stop check-in with boarding passes issued and luggage checked through to the final destination from their city of origin.

"We are pleased to extend our existing strategic alliance with Copa Airlines to more codeshare destinations, which offers our customers more travel options," said J. David Grizzle Senior Vice President -- Corporate Development, Continental Airlines.

The strategic alliance between Continental and Copa includes participation in Continental's award-winning frequent flyer program OnePass®. Members of the program may earn miles, as well as the opportunity to redeem miles for tickets, upgrades, and merchandise on either Copa Airlines or Continental Airlines flights.

I think Copa is amazingly well operated. I wish their books were public, however; it would be fun to watch their progress with the numbers available.

Maybe they'll offer some stock next time they need some capital.
