US Airways plans new route out of Copenhagen
23-05-2007

Location and infrastructure:
Another new, large American airline company contemplates to start a new route out of Copenhagen to the USA, announces Stand By.

According to the travel page, US Airways is supposed to be far ahead in its decision process to start a new route from Copenhagen and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 2008.

Philadelphia is the fifth-largest city in the USA and if the plans hold good, the Danes will have one more destination on the American east coast as Philadelphia is located just between New York and Washington.

US Airways says to Stand By that decisions about new international routes in Europe will not be made till approximately October-November.

From Kastrup airport there are presently direct connections to Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Seattle and Washington. Last year the American airlines Delta and Continental both started direct flights out of Copenhagen to the USA.

Glad to here this! Wonderful news.

Now maybe we can try and serve the largest city in Germany and its capital, BERLIN. Why we havnt started service there years ago is beyond me. I hope MOSCOW is also on the horizon as well.

Didn't you hear!? Oh gees it so simple. Tempe approached EMB in Brasil to retrofit our EMB 180...I mean 190 fleet with a surplus fuel tank. They will then ETOP the bird, take up 6 overheads with survial grear, remove one galley and poof off we go across the pond to Copenhagen !
I am suprised at you. Think out of the box!

Actually, we likely won't be here next year to start new service anywhere. The pilots are going to drive us into the ground. They don't realize they wont ALL be able to get jobs somewhere else making what they make here. (As if $10,000 a month is not enough).

Can the 752 make it there?

Could this be the sign that SNN is gone for good after October

Unlikely, it is at the end of the US TA 752 range, especially westbound. They could do it with weight restrictions. My guess, however, is that Parker may be planning on leasing a few 767-300ERs (lot's are available) as interim solutions for expansion to Moscow, Athens (762 replacement), Tel Aviv, etc., if he cannot get something near term (340/332, or 767-400/777) directly as part of a deal from Airbus (A350) or Boeing (787). All should become much clearer in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

If Parker still elects to stick with the A350 he really needs a field sobriety test.

EADS announces another delay/redesign of this white elephant and Parker still thinks it's better to wait another ten years for this thing?

Meanwhile everyone and their mother will be zipping across the pond in 787's and 777's.

How much further is CPH from PHL than BRU? Cause NW is running a 757 on the DTW-FRA route. Also isn't the NW 757-200's the same model as US' 757's?

i think the 757 could make CPH, CO has a flight to EWR , basically same mileage, and probably the SNN aircraft will be used for this and possibly they may drop ARN too..

I did not say that US could not use the 757 to CPH - I said it was unlikely because it would probably require weight restrictions, particularly Westbound. EWR-CPH is 70nm closer than PHL-CPH - a significant difference when at the end of the range envelope. NW DTW-FRA has yet to be proven - it just started service. Also, NW has a backup flight with an A330 and can easily compromise cargo on the 757 - US has no such capability. In fact if the 757 was tried and required flying with unprofitable loads, they'd have to either drop it in mid-season, or replace it with a 767-200 (from where ??). One airline's 757-200 range cannot be automatically assumed as "global". US's TA 757s have RR engines, NW's TA's have P&Ws. Also, the weight of the aircraft can be very different. US's are typically heavier, especially now with the 330 Envoy seats.

No, actually the bad decisions and inexperience of this management team will drive us into the ground. I give it 2 years.

OK, I thought US and NW had the same 757's. OK that's another possibility, take the 767 off of PHL-FRA and switch it with CPH, if they need the freight. US has that A330 also to back up FRA. The big question whether US' 757's can make either CPH or FRA. CPH is 3970 miles from PHL and FRA is 3980 Miles from PHL, just 10 mile further to FRA than CPH. But CPH is 210 miles further than BRU. If they can't do it with a 757, where will they get the aircraft? MAN,MAD downgrade to 757? I don't see that happening. Boeing still has the 767 line open, 200, 300 and 400's. But sandcastle wants used equipment.

This is all speculation, but finding a plane to fly this route and any others that look profitable can happen in the next 10 months.

The bigger problem is to fight off incompetence threatening the entire operation.
