Corporate Security Raids LGA Locker Room

When I taught newhire f/as I always said there were 4 things (S's) that could get your fired on an airplane.
1. Sipping 2. Smoking 3. Stealing 4.SLEEPING (unless you are really fast and when caught look up and say
"Oh, I didn't know we were forbidden to pray these days"...If you're that "good", have at it.

Pilots and f/as have crew rest built into contractual language on certain Intn. flights. But they would certainly be at job risk if they
got caught sleeping on a domestic flight or shorter Intn. flight. I flew all nighters for a good portion of my career and there were times that it was very difficult not to do the head bob. There were many world problems solved on those flights.

As for turning someone in.... It is more "appropriate" to go to your union steward or local rep and handle it through professional standards.
Did you fly five days in a row with only 2 nights off for months on end?

Dont fall for that old trick. Management always claims that "it was one of your own" that contacted corporate security. LGA has been there for 70 years and for 70 years the locker room has been a place where mechanics go after completing their work. Management has always been well aware of that because thats where they went before they became managers. There was never any real need to have corporate security involved, all they had to do was have a manager walk up there and turn on the lights. However they dont want the guys to have what they call a "job action"(why rush to get done if you dont get any down time?) so they blame it on a mysterious "anonymous letter". Dont kid yourself, the letter came from management and went to management.

I dont know Bob.
Its a little funny to me that all eight guys were original AA employees no TWA guys.
As if things arent bad enough i find it hard local management would stir up the sit especially with all 8 guys being on the B Check crew. And you know how important the B check is.
I find it odd how corporate passed 2 other locker rooms and the 2 B-check rooms to go up to that particular locker room. All speculation but who knows.

And for anyone on this board that can work nights and not catch a few winks is full of sit

It has been condoned by management since day one so long as the work is done.

That is somewhat how the TWU Hooter Gate Guru's got off the hook.

what else is a mechanic to do with his time. Here in Bos all they are capable of duing is changing light bulbs. tiers and cofee pots...anf they need the owners manual to that work.
Any thing else requires a field trip up to Boston from tul. Keep up the good work, maybe we can contract amt to AAA

Sorry, But I worked Midnight shift for a long time, And I got a lot more sleep then (at home) than I do now on days.
It is not that hard to adjust your schedule. Some folks just don't have the discipline.

I don't care what the past practice has been, but "sleeping, loafing, or other intentional restriction of output" is and always has been a terminable offense...

I did 2300-0700 for three years while finishing school, and never recall falling asleep on-duty....

How is it a "restriction of output" if you are done?

I seem to recall BOS doing some door mods that were quite involved.

Bob, if anyone has anything to do or you're not doing jumping jacks in your spare moments for the company, it can be considered a restriction of output.

Bottom line here - someone in management got a woody for one reason or another and decided to grab the low hanging fruit and trash it.

Bull Sit

You need to recall a little harder

Or you had no life and went home after school and slept

Well I used to work graveyards for a while too and I never did either but I am natuarally a night person. I work a swing shift right now and I still don't really go to bed until 5am but that is unusual..Most peoples body clock fight working graveyard shift. Now that being said at nwa at several stations that I worked it was known to everyone including management that guys on mids catch some zzzz's after the work gets done..That is the key AFTER all work is done. BUT it is also a risk known to employees that yes you can be fired for it if management decides to look for it. So if you are going to sleep you need to be smart about it also because if management has it out for you especially if the mx starts working by the book they will can your ass then it is up to the union if you have one to try and get your job back.
