I was curious what the cost for Medical coverage currently is for the East Fleet group. I spent a while on the Hub to check, but was only able to view the plans available, but couldn't find the costs posted anywhere. I have read some discussions here about the topic, and would like to see some actual dollar amounts. The family coverage amount is what I would reaaly like to know, but if anyone has the entire chart that would be great...

Wings....I don't have a chart but I have family coverage PPO100/80 and it costs me $130.15 every 2 weeks. In coverage dental costs me $4.98 per check. These are going up again 1-1-08 I'm almost positive. Not sure how much higher this time but they go up each New Year. The coverage stinks. Regular doctor visit is $25.00 and specialist is $40.00. Caremark is where we have to get our prescriptions filled and if you've ever dealt with them you know they're sorry. We can pay extra for STD and LTD but they're not provided. The family coverage I've chosen is the highest coverage they have. They offer 2 other packages which cost less but cover less and are more out of pocket. With my family we need the full coverage. Sorry I don't have all the info but hope this gives you an idea.

Thanks, that is about what I figured based on what the costs were when I was furloughed. The biggest thing that hits me here, is the prescription deal. Can you still get them locally for a short-term needs?

You can still get short time prescriptions filled like antibiotics and such but otherwise Caremark will deny paying if it's something that you use all the time. Make sure you fill them with 3 month at a time prescriptions and the doctor writes them out that way because they'll charge you the same for one month or three months. Usually $100.00 on up.

I know this coverage is NOT THE Best,,it's the best from the companie's standpoint.

The Co Payments ARE NO BARGAIN. My Dr's office said so....

I have 100.% coverage ..after 225.00 pp ded..

Wench you are correct.....I've had numerous doctors/nurses appalled at our insurance. Had a physical therapist work with us from home on her own because of the terrible insurance. Also people hear that we have United Health Care and say "Oh they're good" but they can't believe when I tell them how our coverage works. The company makes all the rules and UHCG just follows them. In fact US negotiated with UHCG that they don't have to abide by certain laws if it is cheaper to not do so. For instance in NC a law was passed that chiropractor visits could not be charged a specialist co-pay or have visits limited. I called insurance and they acknowledged that was correct and said they would have to refund me hundreds of dollars for my wifes visits. Later the lady called back and said that her supervisor informed her that while that was the law in NC it didn't apply to the deal they had worked out with US Airways. Sounds illegal but it's not as I checked. Well the Chiropractor helped us out a bunch when he heard this as he couldn't believe it. The girl at insurance felt so bad and said this is the only company doing that.

Whoa!

...And I thought we had it bad over here at NW! Family coverage for me is $83.63/every two weeks, and dental is $9.71. Insurers are Blue Cross and Delta respectively.

Our costs also go up on 01.jan.08 (they "can" increase 8% annually, which of course makes it a pretty safe bet that they will...).

Is this covered in your CBA? Is it something that would improve or get worse in this new T/A? Not trying to hijack the thread, bu I'm curious...

It is covered in the CBA and it would not get worse for those of us on the east as there are no changes in the T/A to what we have. For the West it will get much worse than what they have. Much higher rates and everything like co-pays and prescription s go up not to mention they lose company paid short term disability and long term disability. They get a well deserved raise but also lose holidays, sick pay, double time etc. etc. The company gave them a nice raise in the T/A only to take it back through benefits hoping they vote on a raise and nothing else. The profit sharing loss alone takes quite a chunk of the raise this year especially since it's retro from the beginning of 07

I remember talking to a guy over at NWA a few years ago, and he was ticked about having to start paying for his bennies....When I told him what I was already paying, his eyes almost popped out of his head.

Are all work groups paying the same? Or is it different for the rampers..mech..f/a's & pilots?

I'm on the 90% plan and it kicks ass. Yes I'm paying out a bit more but in my situation it has been a godsend.

Mechanics and Pilots are the only ones on the west that can get the platinum plan and that is pretty good coverage - I pay 15 bucks for a copay, perscriptions are 10 bucks. We have to deal with caremark and I am on my second grievence over them, won the first one getting several reimbursed and expect to win the second one. We pay 204 a month for that.

Go back to JIM425 on page three of this group...he has his exact
numbers for his package...mind you it isn't pretty. People just see the $$
sign and not the cost......good luck...
Thanks

The pilots pay much more than the F/As for the equivalent plans; I was surprised to learn that we have different rates. Our insurance is not as good as it used to be, but it is not bad at all, relative to other large companies. I work at a very large level one trauma hospital, and the plans there are actually inferior, so I keep my US plan and get a reimbursement from the hospital. Our medical/dental is at least average; it will never go back to zero contribution/100% coverage.

I located his post, but saw nothing about any numbers........
I realize that the West employees will be paying a lot more, but the East folks have been paying for years already, so it may not be a large increase for them.
