Couldn't Resist

Gosh Ronin, you should have become a pilot. Why didn't you?

For the life of me I will never understand why people WANT to see other people lose something they have. Does it make them feel better to possibly see someone hurting? I don't care how much they make, most people live to their means. When these people take huge paycuts (like they have!) it really affects their families enormously. How dare you think this is funny. Would it make you feel better if we all made the same amount of money? No chance to make more? Most of us were lucky enough to be born into a society that allows us to choose our futures. Every one of us had an opportunity to become a pilot, doctor, movie star, lawyer, janitor, teacher, etc......we chose. Why wish pain upon someone because he chose a profession that was well known to pay well?

Oh, btw, I'm not a pilot....I didn't choose to put in the thousands of hours of training to earn the right, so I don't get the honor.

Interesting first line of linked to article.

" Almost no one in America would admit to being overpaid, but many of us take home bloated paychecks far beyond what we deserve. "

us and we ????

Is Chris volunteering to take a pay cut ?????

You are right fly,

It is all about live and let live.
I've seen too many employees who don't appreciate what they have and blame others for their unhappiness.
Let's hope everyone can lift themselves above this and move forward.
Many employees misjudged their worth. A lot are in the street because of it, while the others keep taking things for granted.
Will things ever change or is it dust just blowing in the wind?

Jim you're so full of it. You don't want REAL change, it scares the sh*t out of you, just like many others just like you still here at United. You want things the way they used to be in your little cocoon world known as United. I would love to see change, I dream of it, taste it, see it, want it so bad you have no idea...not just at United, but in this sickened industry as a whole. I know, I know...well Ronin, if it's so bad why don't you just leave....you're the problem Ronin....Ronin, why don't you just go away, blah blah blah.

On the other hand folks, it's just an article and another persons opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

The ronin,
REAL change is what is happening now at Ual and I don't see many people liking it.

Tell me what your definintion of REAL change would be.

How can you make everything ok?

REAL change is what is going on in American business right now. Wall Street keeps demanding profits, profits, PROFITS!! Since the american business climate was such that corporations were having a hard time making profits, Wall Street and corporations and congress passed law enabling the global environment we have today. Nixon opened China and Clinton passed NAFTA. Now Wall Street keeps demanding more and more PROFITS, so american jobs have to go overseas to take advantage of low cost environments and the US has the H1B visa program to bring low priced labor to work here.

The problem with this scenario is that as companies send jobs overseas to increase profits to satisfy Wall Street, americans are more and more losing their jobs here at home. The jobs that remain here are having to take lower wages. With lower wages and benefits, americans cannot spend as much money as they used to on goods and services. What will happen to America in the not too distant future? The collapse of american capitalism without a single shot being fired and all because of Wall Street going global. We have only ourselves to blame, since we keep our eyes closed most of the time and we keep voting the people into office who subscribe to all the above.

Good post!
The poor get poorer and the rich get richer.
The gap is widening between the classes, with the middle being squeezed out.

America is becoming a service industry. And no one will be able to afford the service, but the rich folks.

I think the article was intended to remind everybody that a lot are over paid. Although some have earned the right to make more it still doesn’t make it right to gouge people out of what I consider much harder earned monies.
Why should a CEO make millions if his company is failing if you failed you would be fired.
Athletes make millions while the average person can’t take his kids to a game that in it self is one of the worst offenses of being overpaid. I don’t want to see people lose what they have but at some point there has to be some middle ground. I don’t know about you all but I am tired of people at the top ridding my back to the bank.

Ditto....I'd sure like to know what has "changed"....except we are a little poorer, our future is not very bright and we are a whole lot older.....

The glass is half-full or half-empty. What do you see?
