CS policy M&E

Must be getting rid of the " now I can sleep for 2 more hours" err I mean the 10 hour shift. And if not no OT for 10 hour guys.

Maybe I missed it but where does it address duty hours PER day... That is, a 24 hour period.. That article addresses 4 days off per month...

It does not specify allowable consecutive hours worked..

Correct, it doesnt specify, according to the way its written you could work round the clock as long as you have the 4-24 hour periods off per month. And those 4 days off he can work his other job as long as its not as an Aircraft Mechanic working under FAR 121.

One of the reasons why this has become an issue is as our pay continues to decline, now by a margin of over 40%, mechanics work more hours in order to maintain their lifestyles. It just so happens that working seven days a week instead of five is the equivelent of working 40% more days. We've had incidences where people were told they could not CSW because it would put them in violation of the rule. Its not so much the doubles that causes the problem its the guys who pick up extra shifts. We have workers who still commute back to the Midwest from JFK and LGA. Sometimes they will simply work as many doubles as they can arrange and give away the other days to workers who live locally. So we had guys who were working seven days a week for weeks on end. Its either that or work a second job.

If memory serves me correctly, I do remember a long long time ago when I was in school and learning the FARs, that there is an FAR which requires a mechanic to have off 4 days in a 30 day period. I may be wrong, but if anyone can find the FAR governing this issue and if it is true, then I suppose i mechanic can work around the clock most of the month as long as he/she has 4 days off.
If memory serves me right, it's FAR 121.133.

Regardless of what the Federal Regulations state and regardless of current practices, there is a "human factors" issue involved in 24 hour shift work unless it is really true some on the job sleeping is taking place. Why would we express concern as a group about safety related to outsourcing of work, but not be concerned about possible human mistakes and or error due to fatigue, which one of the main human factors related to maintenance safety?

I am all for flexible shifts but where does the line get drawn? Before or After the accident?

My guess is that management is attempting to reign in out-of-control worker schedules and that is what started this thread to begin with. The problem with most hourly workers is they cannot just have a little flexability, in time it will always migrate to alot more than desired.

Be honest about it when you respond to this post.

First, I wanted to reply last night....

WATCH MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL TRANSFERS.... Watch where Blair Gregg, and his ilk, are posted. The "WITCH" Broke the 'Business Plan' @ TAESL. He eliminated the FOUR/TEN work schedule and the FIFTH DAY OT. This event COST AA & TAESL the RR TRENT Continental Contract!! The Blame went directly to the TWU !!! (Management CANNOT do ANYTHING WRONG!!) During several GM meetings, he was asked about the rumors of an impending CS POLICY Change. His SMILING reply, " I AM TALKING WITH THE E BOARD ON THIS MATTER." WATCH OUT FOR HIS 'SMILE'!!!!!

Later, to present day DFW, the "WITCH" has been stirring the pot, creating CHAOS !! This person has been sent to PERSECUTE the TWU!! Where ever there is a "Working Relationship", watch the SMOKE TRAIL from the burning BROOM go there to "STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY" that profitable working relationship. The IDEAA of sending AFW TWU personnel to DFW to perform on FIELD TRIP OT probably originated from his CAULDRON!!

I have not heard of MICHAEL JACKSON doing anything recently. Is MJ supporting the WITCH @ DFW?

Can anyone else name a few level 4's & 6's that have been moved, to stab the TWU Workforce?

Listen to what ARPEY has said, IN PUBLIC. Listen to what our supervisors & their managers say to OUR FACES. There exists a disparity that cannot be measured.

According to my friends over at DFW, he has had to pay close to $1 million in grievance payouts since showing up last year because of those field trips. I also checked on MJ, and he is still operating out of an old closet in training and is not allowed near the workforce.

Keep hearing of some transfers opening up at DFW. Only need about 20 and I'm off the rock.

It really is a shame what Managemnt has done to AFW. I remember when it opened. It gave guys the ability to have a somewhat normal life and be close enough to an airport that flew directly to enough locations where they could actually enjoy their flight benifits, anyone who has ever gone to Tulsa for training knows what a horror it is trying to get home on a Friday).

They took a modern effecient overhaul base in a low cost area and made it a place where so many people dont want to work. The transfer list out of AFW is huge, I think its even bigger than NY1.
