What is the feeling about March 4th cutover from Sabre to SLO Shares....
Could it be a major mistake ???

They should have done it mid-january-mid feb. when the traffic at its lowest. Spring Break traffic starts, but then the way Sandcastle thinks, why not the wednesday before Thanksgiving. The cutover will be ugly no matter when it happens.

I am glad I am not flying this weekend. I have a ticket to get but I can wait and see what happens, travel isn't until May, so I have some time. There was really no "ideal" cutover time. The operation is busy at all times, flights are full as well. Testing had to be completed over and over.
This is not just a simple cutover to SHARES, but rather this system has taken the good from both systems and combined, it's more of a hybrid. If anyone thinks it will go over without glitches is fooling themselves. The question will be how big are the glitches and what damage do they cause if any?
Its a big weekend and May is around the corner for the single certificate completion as well, so things are starting to fit together and its been a tough tough road.

I can see it now, this will be a bigger meltdown than jetBlue's fiasco. Tempe's IT Dept. will be the punchline for jokes on monday on Leno and on Letterman. I believe Sunday will be a Good Day to Watch some Movies. All of that being said when you Cutover from ANY system to another, POOP Happens, Feces Flys, Excrement Excretes and tempers flair.
The true measure of Tempe's IT department will be how quickly they respond with fixes and minimize customer disruption. How a company responds when things go wrong is what separates good companies from Great Companies.
When I was working as an agent, SABRE could not do Southwest either. They had to be handwritten. No ticketing agreement or something was the reason i was given by the help desk.A fellow f/a went to get an ID 90 on SWA this past weekend. After following the instruction booklet to the "T" (for 30+ minutes) the PIT ticket counter couldn't get it to work...
This was the new "Shares" program they were following.
She left for PHL w/o it.
I think it will go just fine. Not perfect. Just fine. I truly believe that if the software and the hardware works...the personnel will be able to pull it off. There will be some employees who have not taken advantage of the last three months to practice...but others have and will manage to get through it. A great deal of it will be attitude. What is the feeling about March 4th cutover from Sabre to SLO Shares....

What has gone right when they did stuff?I think it will go just fine. Not perfect. Just fine. I truly believe that if the software and the hardware works...the personnel will be able to pull it off. 1) The New US Web Site? Its still a joke.
2) The Reconfigs of the A321? US must be buying some KC-135's
3) The Seat Pitch? 6 Foot person is squashed.
4) The First Class Product? For what they charge, better off flying someone else.
5) The Retro-Jets? They all had to be redone in one way or another.
There is probably more. I think US has Great Employees, just that Sandcastle needs to get their heads out of the sand and heat.
QIK is by far way easier to creat OAL nonrev tickets than Sabre.
