What's new

Cutover Weekend

Darlin' If I knew I'd tell you. 🙂

This to me in many ways is an epic battle between Good & Evil. Of Robber Barons versus the working class.

Of Corporate America throwing everything under the bus in the search for quarterly profits.

I guess the question is do the sharehloder really know the true story???
Is there a way to get the shareholders addresses and send them all letters? Something should be done if the drive is there. I am just throwing out ideas, not saying that its the right thing or the wrong thing to do. But I see a BIG disaster coming that should be avoided. I honestly do not see how they can make more profit out of this. Maybe in the very very short-term, but there will be an exodus so to speak. Look at Continental, they weathered the storm and they are an excellent company. Their employees even love it there and it shows onto the passengers. I can not understand Tempe's way of business. To me it looks like they sit in a room that has no windows and they haven't seen daylight in years. There is only 2 places that I can think of working with no windows, 1 a Dark Room and 2 the most obvious, a Casino.

How can I turn away now? The fight isn't over! All of my life as long as he was alive my Dad told me "A Quiter NEVER wins & A Winner never quits"

Even though he left us when I was 13 those words still ring in my ears.

I know I have a convoluted sense of duty & honor but it's who I am.

I kinda feel ya, my dad is still with me,(Thank God!)
He said simular things. But most of all, he set an example and a work ethic that I tried to bring to PI, US and now LCC. It never worked for him in his latter years with his airline.
It's a new world out there now. I've found that the harder you work, the harder they work you. Contribution makes no difference. They don't care. They just take advantage of you.
I'm akin to a convoluted sence of duty and honor.

I must be sick. If it wasn't for the standard of living thing....

Ah NOW you've found the america west way!

Recently, when dealing with rerouting delayed passengers or rebooking DM international awards using SABRE, out of curiosity, I tried retrieving these same city pairs in Shares:
MIA - SCL (Santiago de Chile)
PHL - OTP (Bucharest)
CDG - PHC (Port Harcourt) via LOS (Lagos).

I realize, for most employees, ticketing their ZED fares is a more critical issue. But for those to whom such ticketing issues usually flow in customer service and res, what are we to do? City pair availability in near non-existant in Shares. What Sabre can do, the present version of Shares can't. The need for worldwide city pairs availability will continue after cutover but our abiltiy to access it will stop.
I've brought up the issue to local management and my Shares training instructor. They have no answers. They suggest I call the other airline and book space over the phone!
This isn't a solution! With a line of people waiting, this can take several minutes, assuming the OA call center is open. More importantly, computer bookings insure exact name spelling matches and automated updates regarding sked changes, both airlines record locaters, ticket number updates, etc.
What do I tell someone on cutover day that we've misconnected and is traveling to Cochabamba? That they're on their own?

Cochabamba?

Haven't been there in years, Great little approach to the airport, into a valley horse shoe.

Wonder how mgmt would feel if you, you couldn't get ahold of the OA res center, so went "Above and Beyond" and called a charter company, got a Citation and got the customer there, payable to USAirways...hehehe.... At least you might get a 10k bonus in the drawing...lol

OK, tonight's the night! Everyone ready?

US Airways said it has learned from others' troubles and has done extensive employee training and three trial runs to test the conversion.

"We get to demonstrate that these transitions aren't as big and as difficult as historically has been proclaimed," said Anthony Mulé, the airline's senior vice president of customer service.

I sure hope for everyone's sake he's right.

What is the feeling about March 4th cutover from Sabre to SLO Shares....

Could it be a major mistake ???

The cutover is a mistake. Tempe, why go backwards again? Philadelphia is going to have a meltdown, no agents, no hiring, bad management ! What do you expect.

Areyh, the new platform has International on it. In res we have been told very clearly NOT to book International until AFTER cutover. ZED's are easy to do in the QIK system as they price as well, so no holding to call RATES to store the fare.
