CWA US Airways Update 3-21-05

CWA’ers request discussions with US Airways executives on Republic Air deal and other subjects...
CWA’s local presidents and staff have requested discussions, this week or next, with US Airways executives covering three subject areas:
* Management’s agreement with Republic Airways and Wexford Capital that would, in our view, eliminate MidAtlantic operations and jobs and thereby breech our "Jets for Jobs" MidAtlantic agreement. We have proposals to make that will resolve these issues.
*We have a proposal for changes in corporate practices we believe will help reestablish employee confidence in the company leadership and lead to a more positive relationship between management and employees.
*We have current issues and questions regarding Early Out administration, res contracting, and safety (PHL CAR accident) that we want to discuss.
We will report back on the results of these meetings.

32% of Passenger Service employees apply for Early Out package...
US Airways labor relations department says the preliminary count of those applying for the EO package is 1,669. That is approximately 32% of the passenger service workforce. Here’s the breakdown by workgroup, full-time, and part-time:

F/T P/T
CSS 95 0
CSA 336 216
CAR 28 13
BCC 16 15
DMSC 38 11
Clubs 22 9
CTO 2 0
INTRES 315 21
PITRES 517 15

TOTALS 1,369 + 300 = 1,669

That leaves 68 percent to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, while feasting on all you can chow chips and salsa.
:groovy:

Side note: The CAR count seems awful low considering my station alone represents a full 20 percent of your total for the system(about 2 out of 3 of the recently unfurloughed CARS are taking EO here). Unless of course people elsewhere in perhaps better managed/ better supervised stations actually adore that particular "thankless, mind bashing, ball busting job".
