time for hiring you..................oh I forgot THAT Board was fired in Chapter 11!

1)You have zero leadership skills.
2)You want all of us to take cuts to pay for fuel (by my count 5th straight year without proper fuel hedge).
3)No vision - same old stupid answer about "we are working on a plan". What
is it that you do all day long?

YOU are a loser. Take your own advice and LEAVE!
You CAN do it as early as APRIL!

FTB:

The webcast laid out exactly what is to come. You can either choose to be a participant or you can take your chances in the unemployment line. It's really very simple, yet none of the hard core union meat heads on these boards seem to get it.

Hmmm..... $300/wk from unemployment, $625 per month for health insurance, no more free vacation trips on the term pass,
-OR-
Reduced salary, continued subsidized health benefits, free flying

The choice is almost so simple even a 3rd grader could understand it. Well, I guess there must be a lot of 2nd graders working at US.

Let me say it again, you can either choose to keep this company alive long enough to find better employment, or you can vote yourself, your friends, and co-workers out on the street.

There are no other choices to be made with the exception of deciding to quit now and find another job. Maybe you should do that if you're so unhappy with the choices that are available. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

NO,
I think that YOU don't get it. You can give all you want. With no vision (as Dave demonstrated today), this company is DONE! Doesn't matter what you pay employees. All you'll do is drop the bar, so that when you are finally employed somewhere else (or fragmented there) you'll NEVER make a reasonable wage! If this "management" really proved that they could get this thing going I'd be behind them 100%. Right now, I'm NOT convinced. Sorry, I think that just giving more is just ensuring the ruin of this industry as a career.

It doesn't matter what the workers of U "choose." It's nice to know that you think the employees that do the yeoman's work in the company are little better than ditchdiggers. The airline is toast. Siegel and his management team are incapable of leading and managing U even if the workers worked for FREE. It's pathetic to see so called "executives" who are devoid of creative, innovative, or strategic thought. The only ones that will come out of it with bags full of cash while the stockholders and employees take it in the shorts will be the senior managers.

Yet another chapter in the Airline Hall of Shame.

My line of work is available at almost any large company and the airlines are not my only career option. Sure, I could have left in 2001 when I lost 6.5% of my salary, or when they took another 5% for the Iraq War, but to this day, I have been unable to find any other line of work where I can go on vacation every other weekend and not have to pay to fly. It's worth it to me to see this company re-tool and move forward because at the end of the day, if they can turn this place around, those who remain will have the opportunity to reap the benefits of a much larger and prosperous entity.

You may have your opinions, after all, that's what this board is for. Just remember that if you decide not to participate in the plan and the company fails, you are not only failing yourself but every employee of the property. It's quite selfish if you asked me.

Seems to me that "selfish" is expecting others to support your weekend vacations, while having to get second jobs or new careers to support their families.

I only had to pay $50 a month for medical. Is that provision still in the mechanics contract ?

Spin Doc,

You MUST stop talking logical and rational thoughts. This is not the forum for rational thoughts. This is a forum of chest beating about "Vote No", "the concession stand is closed", "We already gave Dave", etc.

spindoc,

"Sure, I could have left in 2001 when I lost 6.5% of my salary, or when they took another 5% for the Iraq War, but to this day"

Let's see....took a 35% paycut in 2001 and DB pension replaced with one that will give me 50-60% less (we got the 5% back). All told, I've contributed about $1 million to Dave. Now he wants another 44% in wages, productivity, and benefits from the employees - more than last time from fewer employees. Explain one more time how I'll be so much better off if I vote "Yes".

I hear this one a lot, and I don't get it. As I understand the logic flow, a reduction in your wages will cause all other airlines' management to demand the same from their employees. But why would any other airline's employees agree to such a reduction? None of them are in the shape that US Airways is in, so it's not like they can be presented with the US Airways payscale as an example of a successful solution.

Could someone help me understand this?

I think the answer is voting YES for 44% less results in exactly 56% more than you will have if you vote no.

However, I suspect it will not be 44% out of your paycheck, part is in W2, part is in less people getting the same amount of work done.

Seems to me that "selfish" is expecting others to go find work when they were willing to stay for lower wages, simply because you were more interested in proving a point by shutting down your employer.

You obviously HAVE NOT been around this industry very long. It happened in the 80s with the "B" scale, then the brilliant managers in this industry tried to "shove it" to the employees wih the "parity plus 1" scheme that backfired on them. You want to understand? Just wait and see what UAL, AMR, DAL and others demand from their workers once this next round is negotiated. Not only that, but since most fragmentation clauses include language about "career expectations", and everyone now expects less, well, you get the idea. If you don't get it now, just wait. You will.

majority rules. Anyway, somebody will fill the vacume if US closes.

I would guess that would be for the employees themselves to decide. If this company goes "tango uniform" there is only one reason why. MISMANAGEMENT. PERIOD. Voting to prop up this incompetent, visionless team again is just throwing good money after bad. Now, if they presented some kind of plan that folks could embrace they would gain MUCH MORE acceptance. That's the way I feel about it. You don't like it, don't read it! <_<
