We had an A330 get smashed up by a lift truck last night as well. Big repair, plane will be out of service for a month.

Entirely possible. We've had a *huge* influx of new employees, and even in my station it's become an issue. Texting while walking, walking towards spinning engines, the list goes on and on.

I can only imagine what it's like at a "constrained" airport like ORD or BOS...

Was all these collisions done with DGS? Delta's inhouse ground services company. Indeed with all these problems where are the WING WALKERS?

ORD so far as I know is a mainline staffed station but Kev can confirm. Based on the picture, this incident had to involve at least one - and perhaps both - aircraft under the control of ramp personnel.
.
Also the BOS incident involved pilots - similar to the AF 380/CRJ incident.

.
Banged up airplanes and extra work for maintenance are the common themes - the cause is probably diverse.
.
Just came thru ATL and saw a 330 in one of the TOC hangars - not sure if that was the plane damaged...

What station? 😱

ATL

That would be the bird in question.

I remember well the times where I would see a wing walker watching his/her feet while I was pushing out. I would call upstairs and have the pilot set the brakes. I would then get out of the tractor and make a point of walking all the way to where the non-concerned employee stood. We would then have a short, wing walking training session for all to see.

It usually only took one of those trips to get the point across...because the pilot would usually call the ramp control and complain.

I thought yesterday's bout was an MD88 vs. an A320? Maybe I'm wrong?

That's fantastic. Seriously. I think I might try that next time.
