Interesting interview with Richard Anderson. As you all know, Delta & NW will merge. The new name of the carrier will be Delta and be run by Delta's CEO. Here's a link:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24116154/

Some points that he made were:
1. The NW pilots would be brought under the Delta CBA.
2. If initial talks went south regarding pilot seniority, that ALPA had a LONG STANDING merger process that was effective. Further, that the new federal law (that mirrors ALPA Merger policy -- BTW) was also a vehicle that a new seniority list could be derived.

At no time during the interview did the CEO mention date of hire, length of service or fences. Imagine.

I wonder if the NWAL pilots are going to attempt make up a new union

[b]Just watch...wait until you see these MBA alchemists attempt to mix oil and water (NWA and DAL). He is, of course, trying to sell the merger, thus will "say" whatever it takes to get the deal done.

A quote from aol today [``No pilot group is going to put up with this. No amount of money can sustain a carrier which creates this level of discord,'' he wrote. (flull article:http://money.aol.com/news/articles/qp/ap/_a/delta-northwest-shares-fall-on-deal/rfid92766018) /b]

I laughed so hard a little poop came out!

the 2 ceos were on csnbc this morning and they reaffirmed no layoffs except in mgmt where the 2 carriers overlap on 12 routes. we shall see how that plays out along with keeping all 7 hubs and we shall see how messy this will get

#1 is just flat wrong and a stupid thing to say. A combined contract would have to be negotiated, he just cant snap his fingers................and secondly, the new DAL contract will be a springboard for combined NWA/DAL pilots to begin moving forward from. Hopefully, this will carry the rest of the industry forward.

That statement is pure CRAP. Every time there is a merger they say the same thing - just ask those who were axed when other carriers were merged. It's BS and many employees loose their jobs, stations and hubs closed. Wake up folks, it's a snow job. More of the DELDA kool-aid CRAP served up warm for the DELTOidDS to drink. Luckily NWA employees are MUCH wiser and not easily brainwashed. Don't buy it guys, u WILL be screwed- BIG TIME!

It's been my experience that anytime a CEO says there will be no layoffs, it's time to update your resume. You are going to need it.

With oil rumoured to be hitting the $120 bbl mark very soon. there will be layoffs/job cuts irrespective of this or any other merger.
Either way we are all screwed.
