Delta CEO to Earn Up to $15 Million

Delta Air Lines Inc.'s incoming chief executive, Richard Anderson, will be paid an annual salary of $600,000 and could earn another $15 million in performance-based incentives, according to documents filed Monday by the airline.

Aside from his annual salary, Anderson will become eligible on Saturday to earn $11 million in incentives tied to the company's performance, the filing said. That sum is "in recognition of the substantial compensation awards that he forfeited by leaving UnitedHealth Group," where he served as an executive vice president, the filing said.

Anderson will also be eligible for another $4 million in performance-based awards next year, the filing said.

Pretty pathetic if you ask me. He had to have known that airline jobs don't pay what they used to, and certainly not what a VP at a major healthcare company makes. Oops, silly me, the CEO's of airlines still make a pretty penny, its the workers that are, as a whole, poorly paid. DAL frontline workers are near the bottom of the list when it comes to compensation. Industry average for a topped-out ACS employee is around $3,450. Top-out at DAL for an ACS agent is around $3,150. This says nothing of the pilots sub-standard contract, though, in fairness, it was agreed upon. Mr. Anderson was a lawyer so i can only assume he drives a hard bargain. I guess i just need to accept the fact that corporate America takes care of corporate America, period.

Maybe DALPA should hire Anderson's agent for the next round of negotions! Oh, I forgot, DALPA doesn't hire one of "Vick's dog fightin" negotiators. (Which is what they need) They have some lame line pilot negotiating. Then when the TA comes out for the pilots to vote on, there is no contract language! And yet, they still vote on a contract that you can't read! (they have done this a lot!) Can you imagine signing a contract for a house and you have no details? Oh, and when you do get the details, one would think you would read it, right? But they don't read it either. There is a lot of whining go on over in the DAL crew lounge and it ain't the engines! It's so sad, it is comical.

If they want to change things, the pilots will have to attend LEC meetings, ask questions, get answers and demand to be represented...in other words...Participate! or shut up and don't sign anything until you have it in writing and you understand everything!

The other empoyees need to unionize. Unions are only as good as the members.

Unfortunately you're right, Alice. DALPA will have to dig in their feet for a bruising and almost certain protracted battle with management this time around. As for other DAL employees voting union, its so-so at best. Whenever DAL management felt they might be losing their sway, they would always throw the frontline employees a bone, which always did the trick. Not sure if the post-9/11 compensation cuts were enough to change a pretty anti-union stance amongst the frontline DAL employees.

As far as the Flight attendants, I think they HAD ENOUGH. Though the AFA may not
be the best solution, many feel that a bunch of outsiders (new DL management)running things will not help them in the long run. Seniority is quickly fading, scheduling rules are "Greyer" then ever and giving new hire's only
three days of reserve is unacceptable. 28 year plus f/a's are treated the same !
