More than 680 employees logged on for a live online chat with Glen Hauenstein, e.v.p.-Network and Revenue Management, on Wednesday. Glen responded to a host of questions about our network plans and fleet strategies, including how we will integrate Northwest Airlines’ hubs, routes and aircraft into our system. How about Sydney, Australia, by 2010, or service to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam?

What other things did he say?

Right now only those that were logged in know. The rest of us have to wait a few days for the transcript to be posted on DeltaNet.

I'm curious to read this particlar transcript myself. But as of this morning, it still hasn't been transcribed.

The chat transcript is now posted on Deltanet. With regards to Sydney, upon completion of the NW merger, this route may be possible in late '09 or early 2010. Glen didn't mention what city the flight would operate out of.

Thanks, 7. I'll give it a look in a little while.
As for Sydney, will our 777ER make it from ATL nonstop...or NW's 744? (I admit I don't know so much about a/c range at these distances.)
If not, I would say it would be out of LAX as NW flew that route a few years ago. Maybe they still have the authority and it would be transf. to DL after the merger?

The 777ER couldn't make it, but the 777LR could. My guess is that there are 2 good options. One, use a 777LR from ATL and run the route nonstop. Or 2, use a 747-400 (NW)and run an ATL-LAX-SYD route. Just a guess.

I don't believe authority is required anymore as Australia and the US have open skies now.
