Delta’s Pilots Prepare
For Possible Merger

Delta’s pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots
Association met Dec. 5-6 with lawyers and investment
bankers to form a union strategy for the possibility of
industry consolidation.
The union said it is actively preparing for a Delta
merger. The ALPA unit said at some point a merger could
draw its support, but an ill-conceived, hasty merger
attempt could be disastrous. “Without the support of
the Delta pilots, any attempt at consolidation involving
Delta will fail,â€￾ they said. The ALPA unit said it wants to
avoid the pitfalls seen at other airlines that have merged.
