Friday, August 12, 2005 - Two Dutch F-16's Juliet-33 and Juliet-45 scrambled from their base on Wednesday August 10th 12:14Z to intercept a Delta Boeing 767-332(ER) N195DN in the Netherlands airspace.
Delta flight 073 was on its route from Istanbul to New York (JFK). Because they failed to contact the Maastricht Euro UAC (Upper Area Control) centre, the Dutch F-16s were scrambled to intercept it.
The above link has has a sound file of the intercept radio communication.

reports that the flight had been out of radio contact since leaving czech airspace.
Anybody know more about this?
I'd like to know how the captain explained the F-16's to the passengers!
