Do Other Airlines' Employees Pay To Travel ?

Let's see how you feel about that when all the East Coast employees get on the standby list to Hawaii first. 😉

If I really want to get on the HNL flight, I will wake up early enough to check myself in!

Flight benefits are one area where everybody should have equal opportunities.

Nothing I want to see in HNL, anyways. Give me Frankfurt. Walking through the Römerplatz, walk along the river, there's a bratwurst stand just screaming my name. Tell me why do I love Frankfurt in the Spring?!

US Airways non-rev domestic travel in coach is FREE.
A first class upgrade is 20.00 Domestic.

International domestic is also FREE but you pay for the INTL TAXES.
Unless if you J/S then it makes you part of the crew and no taxes have to be paid.
But why would you want to do that? Cant drink as part of the crew <grin

Same as AWA except the first class upgrade "cost" is one flexi-pass (buddy pass). You get 10 of these every quarter for not calling in sick.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I will take no satisfaction from the hard working dedicated members of management that are trying to do the right thing losing their jobs. However there are some that just never got it at all during the years they have been there. Some (not all) of those people are about to get whacked (some demoted) and yes I will have some satisfaction from that. I do feel for their families, but it has gone on long enough.

You don't need to "play favorites". You can check in on the web, just like anyone. Using seniority is unfair to newer employees--they should have the equal chance to get on a flight.

Using check-in time is the only truly fair way of doing it. Higher seniority employees can check in anytime on the web, just like everyone else.

It is not unfair to NEW employees. They have to earn their rights just like everyone else did. Seniority is the only FAIR way to go, it's like any job any where it is based on Seniority. That is what you Earn for working.
New people do not have the right to get on before people who have worked longer and harder for the right to fly free!

How will you handle the situation when they decide that check-in time becomes the choice for boarding standbys? Will you file a grievance?

I agree that Date of hire is FAIR. If they change the policy with the merger life will go on but they will have alot of angry senior US Airways employee's very upset.

The newer employees have not worked as long--but they have worked just as hard! They "earned" their benefits the same as older employees.

It is just like pay, days off and vacation, you have to earn it, Flying should be by seniority.
