Eagle And Afa Reach Agreement

5 years without a raise

Uh, most people at AA would very much like to have had that over the past five years -- instead, we all got pay cuts while everyone at Eagle kept their pay intact.

Oh wait, we got a 1.5% raise this year. That means I'm still making less than I did five years ago, but not as much less as I did a year ago. Wahoo.

You answered one of the questions. Now answer these:

2. If you hate your pay rate, would you go to your boss and ask for a raise?

3. If your boss said no, would you try to reach and agreement with him/her on a pay raise that you both agree on?

I like what TWU Informer said: Don't let the door hit you in the a$$!

The current AE contract keeps them at the same pay for the first 5 years. Would you want to make $17 and change per flight hour for 5 years, without a raise?

A backlog of applicants would. That aside, even though they might not have a pay plan every year I would imagine that they get annual step increases. Not everyone at AE is at max because it is less common for AE employees to consider their jobs as careers. I'm not so sure that's a bad thing.

Your post paycut rates would have been a raise for an Eagle employee in a comparable job. I know I would be very happy with the 6/hour raise from my current pay to your cut pay rate.

Many folks at AA never cease to amaze me. Do you realize how little AE employees make? The entire AE payroll is around $200 million/yr. I am not belittling the paycuts you all took, but lets keep things in perspective. The pay 'cut' amount that many AA pilots took is about the same as many Eagle pilots make! Flight attendants are at virtual poverty level. No telling what rampers and mechs make over here, but I venture to guess it's far less than at AA, even after cuts.

Topped out Eagle mechs make 25.15/hour. I think the time to top out is 12 years IIRC.

BTW, Eagle mechanics still top out at less than American mechanics did on their last contract, let alone this one. Even after the cuts. So forgive me if I don't feel real sympathetic.

Overheard on an Eagle flight, a conversation between the F/A and someone with a copy of the TA who had just attended a MEC meeting; The TA provides for an additional $5 per hour for international flying, EXCLUDING Canada, Mexico, and the Carribean. Go figure.

I just had an Eagle flight attendant on my flight yesterday commuting to work. She told me that the TA stinks and she will be voting NO. She also informed me that everyone she had spoken to is also voting NO.

I really believe that the Eagle flight attendants will eventually go on Strike and/or C.H.A.O.S.!
