AFA has a track record of doing really dumb PR moves like this for years. Do you all remember when Joan Rivers was a flight attendant for a day on USAir (1993)? One of our flight attendants won a contest on the former Joan Rivers Show and got to be Joan for a day; Joan got to be a flight attendant for the day. Joan was, well, Joan and started opening the liquor bottles and pretending to drink them while working the cart -- she bantered to the camera saying all flight attendants were drunk. It was hysterical. She then proceeded to open up her suitcase and dump a bunch of liquor, blankets, pillows, demo cards and God only knows what else into it alluding that all flight attendants pilfered..again she was just being a comedian. AFA went nuts and put out this huge press release saying Joan hurt the flight attendant profession. Quite frankly, AFA takes this stuff too seriously and in the end, ends up hurting the profession. It's just a movie, lighten up. Does ALPA put out a press release when it seems in every damn airline movie the pilots get killed? No. We just laugh our a$$es off at it.
