Structural cracks were recently discovered on at least two American Airlines Boeing 767 jetliners, including one jet that air safety regulators believe could have lost an engine, the paper said.

<_< ------ Didn't we just complete pylon mods. to the 767 fleet a few years back? I know there were two phases to that particular mod. A complete mod., we were doing here at MCIE, and a quickly abbreviated mod.------------ I wonder if we'll see an AD come down on this? -------- That's O.K., they can send them to MCI! The good ol' boys there can handle it!!!!------- But wait! They're scheduled to shut down in a couple of months! But I'm sure they'll be able to knock out the fleet in that length of time!!!-------- Sure they will!

Well since MCI will be shut down, AA will send it over to TIMCO instead. TIMCO are 767 Pylon specialists.

Of course, TWA mechanics are the only people since the wright brothers first flew who are capable of maintaining aircraft.

R.I.P MCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Timco, since when? The 767 maui lines have been suspended in the new hanger 80 in Tulsa. They will instead be working on the 767 pylon problems.

<_< -------- Well Hopeless, now that you mention it, I do believe there are more exTWA AMT's that have the honor of holding FAA's "Charles Taylor Awards" than any other Airline, past or present!------ And most of them were from right here at MCI!!!

WHHHHHOOOOOOPDIDO!

That and 50 cents will get you a bus ride.

By the way, the Charles Taylor Award honors 50 years as a mechanic. NOT SKILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half the the ex TWA people in MCI were rebuilding coffeemakers and seats for most of their careers and got that award.

Spare me your nonsensical defense of a dead airline which ruined a good one..

RIP MCI and good riddance.

Inspections under way..........

<_< -------- Oh I've seen the "SKILL" of what AA calls working as an AMT!------- AA has some vary skilled people, if they'd let them do their job.---------- I don't believe there's much "SKILL" in changing parts! And that seems to be all I've seen of AA's interest in maintaining Aircraft!

Is anyone concerned about the fact that the FAA found the friggin' cracks, not our people? Or, is this just another opportunity to start an AA vs. TWA argument? Lives are at stake.

I might have said that being based in SLT, I am safe from the cracked 767s, but since the 757 appears to be the "new" A300 when it comes to maintenance issues, we've had some 76 subs on 75 routes lately. Pay attention, guys. Some of us depend upon you doing your jobs, not just looking for opportunities to beat a dead horse.

Well thats probably due to the fact that since Ichan stripped those poor guys of their pensions and pay they had to keep working for 50 years.

Someone asked which type of Aircraft. I believe they were all 300s. That makes sense, probably the same pylon with bigger engines pulling a heavier aircraft.

I am fairly certain that AA found this and made the FAA aware, the story is wrong.
