My folks were single income and my dad paid for our own health care.
Mine too, back then things were more affordable because real wages were higher and taxes were lower.
And the fact that someone else paid for my education makes me paying for your kids education right? My parents should have been forced to pay for mine or at the very least a larger portion of my education than those with out children.
First of all, unless you live in Suffolk County New York you dont pay for my kids education, but they will be paying for your Social Security.
You seem to have difficulty with staying on issue huh? I am not talking about lower income. I am not talking about corporations. Those are separate issues and can be dealt with at a different time.
You are talking about the tax burden. You are complaining that since people with children will be getting a larger tax rebate that in effect you are paying for their kids. You're not paying for my kids any more than you are paying more taxes so corporations can pay less. In 1960 corporations paid 23% of all tax receipts, by 1990 it was down to just 9%. Who do you think is paying the rest? Why is it that you are so upset that people with much higher expenses than you and less discretionary income are getting a very small break on the taxes they pay when the fact is we all are paying more than we should so corporations can pay less?
The only thing I am dealing with now is the fact that a person who decides on their own to have a child is getting more money back in the form of a tax refund. I have yet to speak to a person with a child who when asked why they have a child replied that "they were supplying seeds for the continuation of man kind". While that is true, people have children because they want a family. It is done for primarily for selfish reasons. If the children are for societies benefit then one could argue that the society should raise them.
The benifit to society may not be the reason for each individual decision to have a child but the benifit is real and society as a whole recognizes that and thats why I'm getting $900 more than you back. Dont like it move to a deserted island.
You are a perfect example of why the idea of a flat tax is becoming so popular. No exemptions, no deductions.... just a flat rate. A family with 10 kids would pay the exact same tax as little old me and my wife.
No exemption, no deductions, thats why it will never happen. Negative population growth is a disaster for Capitalist economies.
The bottom line is that just because you choose to have children does not in any way shape or form entitle you to more of my money.
I wont be taking any of your money, the government will simply be taking less of mine. There is a difference.
Why you should get $300 a pop on top of that is beyond me.
Simple to provide economic stimulus to the economy which in theory would also benifit DINKs such as you and your wife. Chances are better that the extra $300 paid to families for each kid will go directly back into the ecomomy and not into an IRA that wont be spent for years.
