First Pic Of New Livery On The Net

Best paint scheme, (possibly ever): TWA 757. They got it right! Bummer to know it's in enemy hands now. The new UA paint on 1 to 10......6. Doesn't make much of a statement. That blue fade half way up has to go...............cheezy!

Does this mean that UA will now have to issue new uniforms, redo their ticket counters and gates, repaint all of their ground equipment, and redo all of their signage?
No silly... that's already been done. Oh, for just the last 7 years or so.

Flown UA lately?? 🙂

But the metal treatments cost about the same as the fuel savings or I think all airlines would have an AA scheme on the planes to save money. I know that Airbuses have to be painted, but not Boeings metal monsters.
AA removed the gray paint from the buses in the early 90s but they still have to paint many parts of the bird to protect it from errossion. The main reason why AA is not going to change their silver bird livery anytime soon is:
1. Tradition.
2. AA knows that they should focus on what is on the inside than what is on the outside.
3.Uniqueness since most airlines are currently using a livery based on white paint.
4. Save money on repainting planes and lower fuel costs.

I am a big fan of their silverbird livery and I hope they don't make huge changes to it in the future.

It's absolutely gorgeous.
The white and blue are spectacular.
Clean, bright and contemporary.
I love the updated United "U" tulip on the tail.
I'm glad they left the old "sunset" colors out completely (I don't think orange has been in vogue since the 60's with Pucci uniforms and go-go boots).

ps
let's stop comparing UAL to other airlines and other airlines to UAL. We are a proud, pioneering airline and we don't need to make or be compared with others.

As I stare at the logo on Hughes Airwest, I notice I can see a representation of HH in at least 3 different ways, the 3d way slanting up and slanting down, as well as a blocky HH with the two letters sharing the middle block.

Turn it sideways and you get 2 3d "E's".

Gotta stop staring, its starting to creep me hout

But you can't see the "A" and "W"? That's the first thing I see! Guess it's kinda like the old "lady or the skull" eye teaser. Everyone's perception is different.

Many years ago somebody tried to convince me that the triple diamond logo spelled out H-A-W, but I just couldn't buy it. It didn't make sense to me the H-A-W was not anything close to the Hughes Airwest lettering. Several years later I was speaking with another Hughes Airwest buff and he informed me that the triple diamond was meant to imply Howard Hughes' initials, which finally made sense to me. You can see the 3-D "HH" more than one way. It's an optical illusion.

I really don't see the A or W, just figured it was 3 stylized diamonds.

Now if we can just get those retitrees to cough up the money to pay for these paint jobs....

Seriously though - SFO, big presentation of the new livery yesterday
meanwhile an A-320 that just came out of C-check sits grounded because we have no beacon light bulbs

Just a guess here but I suspect somebody's got their head up their ass
