The Air Lines Pilots Association (ALPA) that represents United's pilots issued a statement saying the move "demonstrates an absolute and blatant disrespect of the pilots, crew and passengers who lost their lives on that date (Sept. 11, 2001)."
"How could these flight numbers have been 'inadvertently reinstated' as the company indicates?" asks Capt. Wendy Morse of the United branch of ALPA. "The pilots of United Airlines expect accountability of how these flight numbers were considered in the first place."
United's flight attendants union issued a statement with a headline reading that the reinstatement of the flight numbers "disrespects employees, passengers and families still grieving (the) loss of heroes."
